The Little Mermaid (2023)
Lovely
They did a great job with this version! I grew up obsessed with the original and I love this remake. Halle did an amazing job acting and her voice truly is a sirens song. If I had any complaints it would be that her hair would be more of a deep red but the color was beautiful on her and worked. With any remake we have to be prepared for things not to be the same, as it shouldn't be. This is a newer version of a great movie. If it were exactly the same it wouldn't be as interesting as something new. I love this version and am so glad it is finally out! Let go of preconceived notions from the previous version and enjoy it. Ohh and King Triton having his beautiful eclectic daughters from the seven seas? Loved it!
The Pope's Exorcist (2023)
Amazing
Honestly, I think this is one of Russell Crowe's best works. I was amused the whole time, whether something was happening or we were in research mode. I loved the backstory even though somethings can be a little predictable. It was amazing. It Has to be one of the best exorcism movies I've seen in a long time. Crowes performance was remarkable. His accent, his attitude, and everything was absolutely perfect. The performance of the little boy was amazing as well. To be so young and show so much emotion it was truly inspiring. I can't wait till this on DVD or even see it in the theater one more time, at least. I definitely recommend.
Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies (2022)
Face of evil
She's an admitted liar who has had time to come up with the bs she served on this documentary... sorry not believable. Decent attempt to make people care for this monster but I'm not buying it. No amount of excuses are made up lies many years afterwards can make up for the neglect and death of a beautiful child. I did not want to watch this, but I forced myself to so I could be open minded enough to hear the other side. It was a waste of time. The reduction in everything great value great music to try to make us feel something that isn't there, but it did work. This woman is still as guilty today as she was years ago and trying to blame her family for her own evil is unforgivable.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021)
Ehhh
I was disappointed with the movie. It felt like a good storyline was overshadowed by wasting too much time on unnecessary things. There were some really cool moments but again it wasn't a big part of the movie. If this has a second part there definitely needs to have changes before doing so.
Cinderella (2021)
Fun
Absolutely delightful! Great song choices and amazing diversity. I did not think I would enjoy it but it's now one of my favorites.
Wicked (2021)
Amazing
At first I did not think the actors would be able to pull this off but they did. They exceeded my expectations and truly brought the characters to life. I'm obsessed with the books and now I have a movie I can watch whenever I need it. It was entertaining, hot, and very well done. I cannot wait for the other two!!!
The Christmas House (2020)
Sweet
Just the right amount of sweet that you need to face the holiday season. So glad that we are showing different families because this is a large portion of our world. Loved it.
The Practice (1997)
A roller coaster ride of emotions
This is a compelling show featuring many different personalities that somehow come together for one reason: goodness and the law. Some days you were disgusted with the despicable acts that were happening on the show and other days they redeemed themselves. The last season they lost what made the show so wonderful and I'm not talking about the characters. Alan Shore was a detriment to the show. He was an interesting guy and funny but he had no moral standing. He made everything sarcastic in a humorless way. Of course it was hard to lose several main characters but keeping Jimmy, Eugene, and Eleanor really helped. It's only sad the adding Alan sure and Tara ended up making the show horrible in the end.
