Pared con pared (2024)
Regarde l'original français
I stumbled upon the original French Version some years ago and despite its silly premise I found the chemistry and film a delightful watch. Cut to 2024 seeing a new version on Netflix I was interested...
This film remake is missing the magic of the first one which is odd because it's mostly the same. It's just is very lacking.
This version offered nothing new which what's the point of making the exact same movie again with in my opinion actors who just didn't have the same chemistry.
Really if this film looks interesting to you just find the French version it's so much better. I would have people to see this version first and miss out.
Three Women (2023)
This doesn't end well
I was finding this show very interesting to watch. I was most pulled by Maggie's story and found her to be the only character who by the end I liked. The flawed nature of each of the women was intriguing particularly as you could see how the flaws were being created by societal pressure and their desires often being in polar opposites. It's a shame that a number of the women seemed unable to go after what they want without hurting others. I was enjoying that aspect of the women's growth as they sort of came to terms that they could go for what they wanted but it had to be done in a particular way - break up with the married man because it's still not free love, actually communicate with your partner that you need love and look to love and believe yourself. At least that was my take way until Gia's last monologue. There was something about the "just let her" go after what she wants that felt a bit icky. Like sure we as a society need to be less judgmental but surely there are times when judgment is justified. I felt the message should have been follow your desire and own them, allow others to follow theirs but don't use it as an excuse to hurt others. The last bit kind of made me feel as though the whole thing wasn't worth watching if that is the takeaway. The acting and filming were excellent but the ending marred it for me.
