Devil May Cry 5 (2019)
Only Worth Playing As Dante And Vergil
How can people tell me that this game is the best in the series? I think not. They don't have a problem with Dante being on the sideline for half the game. I'd rather play DMC2 instead of playing Nero and V because those characters are overrated and so BORING.
I'm a huge DMC fan when I get to play as Dante for 4 games (except the reboot), but when it comes to DMC5, I am utterly disappointed because it feels like Itsuno or Capcom had to make Dante a playable cameo protagonist and you only get to play as him for 6-7 missions. Yep, our favorite Devil Hunter star is being replaced by 2 nonexistent protagonists that we didn't ask for. Believe me, I've seen lots of people playing as Dante on YouTube with his banger gameplay is top notch with his Sin Devil Trigger, and 5 weapons.
What's wrong with Nero? Nero's gameplay is slowed like a turtle and very repetitive. Nothing but his lame weapons do any damage, and it gives me a migraine every time I had to S rank mission 8 thanks to the broken scoring system. His costume design is trash, look like he slept with homeless women for 12 weeks straight. Devil arms? Useless.
V makes me feel like I'll never pick up the controller ever again. I know he's Vergil's human side, but he's God awful to play or watch. It's really hard to control his pets because his controls are so bad. He can't fight, but his pet demons can. On higher difficulties, his pets will get stalemated, and you have to summoned Nightmare every time you have to deal with annoying enemy designs. It takes like 25-30 minutes to get an S rank because of his nonexistent gameplay. And I can't believe these fanboys actually liked him with his terrible gameplay and Shakespeare quotes. More like he looks like Not My Rodrick actor.
Vergil is literally broken. It's like Capcom gave him too much OP. Man, I had a blast playing as Mister Storm Approaching.
Dante and Vergil are the best characters. I pretend Nero and V doesn't exist.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (2024)
You Failed us, Rocksteady.
Oh, Rocksteady, you're a great studio for developing three critical acclaimed games and had the audacity to piss on Batman's body/Kevin Conroy's grave? It's been 9 years, and they want Batman to lose against the Suicide Squad. No ONE can take out Batman, he's a legendary martial arts expert and escape artist. Just like Arkham Knight, he saved Gotham and didn't lose to Scarecrow or the Knight. Ignoring the events of Gotham Knights, the World's Greatest Detective has been shot in the head by Quinn and disrespected Conroy's legacy for 30 years. Man, that is such an insult to the Arkham fans or Batman fanboys.
Gameplay is cringed. It's like a copy and paste from Fortnite. Just shooting enemies and bosses to win and it's gotten really repetitive. This is not a fighting or stealth game like the 3 three previous installments.
I guarantee this game isn't cannon. Deadshot was a white guy back in Arkham Origins and City, but how is he black in this game? And we all thought Joker died in City, but he's alive somehow in this game. None of this makes any sense and this makes me laugh so hard.
If I were you, I would pretend this didn't exist and it's not part of the Arkham universe. They made 3 games with successful sales wise and SSKTJL killed the franchise. Go back and play the Arkham Trilogy just like the good old days and I promised it will make you feel better.
If you think my review isn't that helpful, it means you're defending this piece of trash that has no reason to exist. Ciao!
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (2001)
Undeniable Masterpiece
Ah, 2001, the year when MGS2 and Devil May cry 1 became the bestselling games in that year.
I'm going to come out of the gate with a bold statement. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is one of the greatest video games of all time. Released three years after its predecessor, the game became one of the first examples of how the medium could be used as a tool for storytelling and social criticism.
The story itself follows rookie FOXHOUND agent Raiden, as he attempts to stop a mysterious group called the Sons of Liberty. After kidnapping the President of the United States, the group threatens to create an environmental disaster that threatens all life on Earth. The story includes themes of political conspiracy and postmodernism while dealing with topics like post-truth politics long before they became relevant in the mainstream. It's actually impressive just how much it deals with, despite topically being similar to previous releases.
In Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, you have access to both Snake and Raiden as playable characters. This changes the game in many different situations, meaning you've got to change up your approach throughout. First-person aiming is introduced, as is hanging from ledges to hide from enemies. The environment is more interactive than ever, and you can use pretty much everything to your advantage. If there were any problems with the original Metal Gear Solid, Sons of Liberty takes care to fix it where possible.
Considering how well-regarded the original game was, it almost seemed impossible to live up to the expectations. Metal Gear Solid 2: Snakes of Liberty lives up to them, and then some.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (2004)
What A Thrill... 20 Years Later
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was released three years after its predecessor, with Kojima and his team taking the time to get it right. And boy, did they!
This time set in the 1960s, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater sees you take Snake on a journey deep into the Soviet Union to rescue a scientist known as Sokolov, while looking to sabotage a nuclear weapon of mass destruction. Compared to the heavy-hitting themes of Sons of Liberty, it almost seems tame.
The biggest change comes by way of the environment. The greys of previous games have been replaced by the greens of the forest. Most of the game takes place outdoors in a Soviet Union Forest. The game introduces an advanced camouflage system that gives you more ways than ever to blend in with the environment. This is gauged by a camouflage index, a number between 1 and 100 that determines how visible you are to enemies.
Melee combat is overhauled, with a new close quarters combat system offering plenty of ways to engage the enemies. On top of this, the basic life bar is gone, replaced by injuries all over Snake's body. If you get hit in the leg, you have to heal that area specifically, or the game makes it very tough to recover over time.
It's very good. Great, even. The strategy of Konami, to slowly innovate over time with the series and leave the experiments to the spinoffs, is a winning one.
Batman: Arkham Knight (2015)
Rocksteady Saved The Franchise
Arkham Knight saved the franchise after Arkham Origins was a trash game developed by WB Monreal. They literally copied everything from Arkham City and reused gadgets like they don't have better ideas. Also, they didn't even fix the frame rate because it lags NONSTOP on my PS3. I threw Origins in the fire and pretend it doesn't exist. In late 2014, Arkham Knight was revealed, and I got so much hyped. I spent billions of hours playing on this masterpiece and Rocksteady did it again.
In Arkham Knight, the game introduces new gadgets, new enemies, Batmobile combat/racing and fear multi takedown. Oh, my Lord, this game has the best combat and stealth in Batman video game history.
The plot is kind of boring. Too many hallucinations of Joker and Jason Todd, overuse of the Batmobile to solve puzzles and tanks. But whatever, the game is still fun.
I'll say this again: Thank you, Rocksteady. You saved the franchise after Origins was a disaster and we pretended Origins doesn't exist.
Batman: Arkham Origins (2013)
An Insult to The Franchise
Oh, Arkham Origins, a poorly programmed game known as a black sheep of the franchise that came out in late 2013 with unpolished gameplay, horrendous graphics, visuals, animations, textures, and the frame rate keeps dropping on my PS3.
Speaking of 2013, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance has BETTER graphics, cutscenes, and smooth frame rate compared to this complete abomination trash, AO.
WB Montreal didn't have better ideas instead of copying everything from Arkham City. It's literally the same game with recycled gadgets and identical animations. By the way, they had to rush the game out unfinished, and it got lots of technical issues. Millions of people are reporting that this game has so many crashes, bugs, glitches, restarting console, corrupt saves, and freezes on all platforms. It doesn't matter if your console is brand new, it will still have issues, it's an easy cash grab, and Montreal is a piece of trash company who can't even bother fix it and it's still having issues.
Gameplay is still the same but worse. The punch sound effect sounds like 2 cardboard boxes are slapping each other.
Story is cringed. The main plot line is Black mask hired 8 assassins to kill Batman in one night and that's what the game is supposed to be about. That's not what the game is about. Half the story, Joker is impersonating Black Mask all along and the trailer lied to us. You're not going after 8 assassins this time; you have to stop Joker again for the 3rd time. Three games in a row to stop Joker and they didn't mention about Joker in a single trailer. Then Bane discovers Batman is Bruce Wayne, but how does Bane know where the Batcave is located at in the middle of the ocean? That completely makes no sense and horrible writing.
I can't believe these people are defending this game and saying it's, "Underrated.'' Lmao, it's been 11 years, and this game didn't even get a remaster on next gen consoles. Oh, how embarrassing for this so-called "underrated." But thank God Arkham Knight saved the franchise, so fight me. ✌
