Pachinko: Chapter Seven (2022)
My favorite episode
It's now impossible to imagine the story of Pachinko without it. In the six preceding episodes, viewers come to know Hansu as a mysterious merchant with ties to organized crime, but here, Pachinko reveals his surprising past. We meet the younger Hansu, a demure young math tutor planning to build a new life in America, then watch with sickening dread as the earthquake robs him of his future. All in one day, Hansu loses his father, his dreams, and many of his countrymen, who are murdered in cold blood before his very eyes. Tightly focused on Hansu's grief, panic, and disorientation, the episode is a showcase for Lee's immense talents.
Pachinko (2022)
The best TV series of the year
After watching the three episodes, I may deeply realize the artistic attainments of the director. The composition is beautiful, the picture is magnificent, and every frame is eye-catching. I can see that every actor has made a lot of efforts to shape the character. I believe that everyone who has experienced immigration can find resonance in it. Will continue to follow up on new episodes.
