With reshoots ongoing on Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World, a ton of new set photos have been surfacing online over the past few days and the latest batch reveals star Anthony Mackie ("Sam Wilson/Captain America") suited up in his classic white-and-blue suit from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, essentially reaffirming that he'll be sporting multiple looks in the eagerly-awaited Marvel blockbuster.
As per a recent report, the additional photography isn't expected to be particularly extensive, and should conclude within another week or two. New action sequences were expected to be added, so based on what we're seeing in these photos, it looks like they might be shooting a new opening for the film, where Mackie sports his first Captain America suit.
He'll also wear a wingless blue-and-red suit in the film, something not too dissimilar from Steve Rogers' stealth suit, but it's not yet clear what...

Ever since Steve Rogers decided to hand his shield off to his buddy Sam Wilson (a.k.a. Falcon) at the end of Avengers: Endgame, fans have wondered what was next. We got a Disney+ series that showed Sam’s hesitance to pick up the mantle of Captain America and the history that comes with it. By the end of the series, he knew he was the only person who could take on the role of Captain America. Now, where do we go? It looks like the upcoming story of super heroes and alter egos, Captain America: Brave New World, will tell us when it reaches theatre screens on February 14, 2025.

Marvel alleges an Instagram user illegally posted an image from the unreleased “Captain America: Brave New World” movie — and it has gone to court to try to make Instagram disclose the identity of the account’s operator.
Marvel filed a subpoena request May 7 in U.S. District Court California Northern District in San Jose, asking the court to order Instagram to identify the person or people behind @canwegetsometoast. Marvel alleged that the account “published a copyrighted image from an upcoming Marvel Studios motion picture, ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ without authorization.” The Disney-owned studio is seeking the subpoena pursuant to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Reps for Instagram, which is owned by Meta, did not respond to a request for comment.

It looks like there is more bad news in store for Marvel fans and fans of Captain America. After extensive reshoots and cutting away major scenes, Captain America: Brave New World still seems to have issues. The Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford starrer has been in the making since 2022 and will be released on February 10, 2025.
The film is set to build on the events of the Disney Plus series Falcon and the Winter Soldier, with Mackie’s Sam Wilson taking over the mantle of Captain America. The film recently debuted some footage at CinemaCon which showed Ford’s Thaddeus Ross as well. However, industry insider Jeff Sneider mentioned that all was not good in the movie.

New-ish Cap, same old shield.
Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson steps into his own as the star-spangled Avenger in the first look at “Captain America: Brave New World” that Disney shared during its CinemaCon presentation on Thursday. It sees the newly-minted Captain America saving Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, the president of the United States, from a group of brain-washed assassins. The action-packed scene finds Wilson engaged in hand-to-hand combat, while dodging bullets as he desperately tries to rescue the leader of the free world from a daring attack on the White House.
The first look at the Marvel movie also showed Wilson getting an offer from Ross that he might not be able to refuse. “I want Captain America to help me rebuild the Avengers,” the President tells the patriotic superhero.
The sequel picks up after the events of the Disney+ streaming series, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Anthony Mackie has been a stalwart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since debuting as Sam Wilson/Falcon in 2014’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” The actor’s superhero tenure has included “Avengers” movies and the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Now, Mackie is taking on the mantle of Captain America in the upcoming theatrical tentpole “Captain America: Brave New World.”
While promoting his latest series “Twisted Metal” in the United Kingdom, Mackie compared the project to his experience making Marvel movies and told Radio Times there was a lot more storytelling freedom to be had outside of the MCU.
“I would say the Marvel thing is completely different, just because it’s such a space of controlled entertainment. Like, there’s only so much you can do,” Mackie observed. “There’s only so much creativity you can bring to the table, because Stan Lee gave us so much content.

Cloverfield burst onto the scene in 2008 and surprised critics and audiences alike. January was known for being a dumping ground for bad films, so when a gem came out during that time, it was highly regarded by the masses. The original Cloverfield was a spin on the classic monster feature following a group of New Yorkers enjoying a party until a creature the size of a skyscraper invades their city. Cloverfield collected nearly $200 million worldwide, but a sequel didn’t come out until 2016. Following the success of 10 Cloverfield Lane, The Cloverfield Paradox became a Netflix exclusive that...

It Follows director David Robert Mitchell’s 80s-set “IMAX thrill-ride” for Bad Robot is shrouded in secrecy. So could Flowervale Street be another Cloverfield spin-off? We look at the possible clues.
We’ve been following the slightly under-the-radar progress of Flowervale Street for some time now. An upcoming film from It Follows and Under The Silver Lake director David Robert Mitchell, it has been shrouded in secrecy for several months, with even that title currently in question.
As more details about the project have emerged, though, we’ve began to wonder: could it be another film in the Cloverfield series? If so, this would place it in a series that has so far included the 2008 original and the spin-offs 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) and The Cloverfield Paradox (2018).
Let’s take a quick look at the clues we currently have to hand.

Plot: An astronaut who returns to Earth after a disaster in space only to discover that key pieces of her life seem to be missing. The action-packed space adventure is an exploration of the dark edges of human psychology, and one woman’s desperate quest to expose the truth about the hidden history of space travel and recover all that she has lost.
Review: Man, the International Space Station is getting trashed lately. For years, films like Gravity and The Cloverfield Paradox as well as countless others have used the station as the setting for disaster, but this year alone has had more than one project featuring it. First, the horror film I.S.S. made the triumphant existence of a joint space station a thing of terror and now Constellation fills viewers with a sense of foreboding surrounding the orbiting satellite. In recent months, Nicolas Cage has been open about his wish to retire from movies. But he’s also said that doesn’t mean he’s going to stop acting, and he’s demonstrated a desire to try episodic TV, which he’s never done before. Now, an intriguing report from The Ankler suggests he might have found his vehicle, a live-action Spider-Man Noir show. Cage memorably voiced the characters, a 1940s film noir-style version of Spidey in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Cage is also a massive fan of the classic noir actor Humphrey Bogart, with him once doing an extended Bogey impersonation in his Paul Schrader film Dog Eat Dog. Perhaps this would give him the opportunity to go full-on into the noir genre. It’s an intriguing possibility.
Here’s what we know about the proposed Spider-Man Noir series so far:

Ewan McGregor has joined Anne Hathaway in It Follows director David Robert Mitchell’s mystery 80s-set dinosaur film, seemingly called Flowervale Street.
There’s an awful lot we don’t know about Flowervale Street, the upcoming film from It Follows and Under The Silver Lake director David Robert Mitchell. Even that title has a bit of a question mark hovering around it – on IMDb, the project’s simply billed as Untitled Anne Hathaway & Robert Mitchell Film, largely because it stars Anne Hathaway.
Several outlets, including World of Reel, have stated that its title is Flowervale Street, though, so that’s what we’ll go with for now.
According to Deadline, Ewan McGregor is the latest high-profile addition to the cast, and interestingly, the Hollywood outlet doesn’t mention the film’s title, either. Even its logline is still being kept secret, though Deadline echoes earlier reports that it’ll be a ‘thrill-ride’ shot on IMAX.

Huge Potential Spoilers After The Break – So Be Warned!
He’s been Han Solo, Indiana Jones, and Jack Ryan, and now it looks like Harrison Ford is officially hulking out in Captain America: Brave New World. While it had been speculated that Ford would eventually play the character due to his casting as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (filling in for the late William Hurt), according to online rumours, the Red Hulk’s appearance in Brave New World has been confirmed. But how? According to a Marvel Studios Spoiler thread on Reedit, a crew member was spotted wearing an official movie jacket with Brave New World written in Red Hulk-style font, seemingly confirming the character’s appearance.
Now, to be sure, this isn’t much of a spoiler. Did anyone really think that Red Hulk wouldn’t be making an appearance when Ford was cast in the role? It would be...

New Yorkers minding their own business when aliens attack from the sky? That sounds like a Cloverfield! Well, the first Cloverfield from 2008, anyway.
The teaser for the film promised hip New York teens filming themselves during an alien invasion. Between the Escape from New York homage and the name “J.J. Abrams” — better known at the time for Alias and Lost instead of Star Trek Into Darkness or Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker — the Cloverfield trailer created a buzz that concealed the finished product from director Matt Reeves and writer Drew Goddard.
Cloverfield left viewers hungry for a sequel that further developed the world, and Paramount was quick to acquiesce. But instead of giving fans another found footage chronicle of the central monster’s attack on New York, Abrams’s production company Bad Robot retrofitted a project called The Cellar into 10 Cloverfield Lane, directed by Dan Trachtenberg and written by Josh Campbell,...

Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse now has its own spinoff series on Apple TV+ with Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and it’s aiming to capture the hearts of those kaiju fans invested in the production company’s shared cinematic universe. The MonsterVerse fandom has arguably split itself into two camps over the years, with one side more keen on the serious and dramatic Godzilla and Godzilla: King of the Monsters, while the other gravitates to its more ludicrous fare, Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla vs. Kong.
Monarch is definitely for the former camp, but even if you’re in neither, Apple and Legendary are hoping that you’re enthralled enough by the films’ central scientific organization that you’ll happily sit through an entire series about it as long as you occasionally get to see a titan or two in action. In that way, it reminds me of a little show called Agents of Shield,...

2023 happens to be the 15th anniversary of the release of the creature feature Cloverfield (watch it Here), which was directed by Matt Reeves and spawned an anthology franchise, being followed by Dan Trachtenberg’s 10 Cloverfield Lane and Julius Onah’s The Cloverfield Paradox. Last year, Under the Shadow‘s Babak Anvari signed on to direct a new Cloverfield sequel from a screenplay by iBoy writer Joe Barton. The only information we’ve really learned about this new Cloverfield sequel is that, unlike the original film, it won’t be presented in the found footage style. But during an interview with CinemaBlend, 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg revealed that the film is setting aside the anthology approach to be a direct sequel to the original film. He also said that it’s going to be “very cool”.

The Cloverfield franchise may have been dormant for the past few years, but like the titular creature, it will rise again when you least expect it. That’s the fun of this sci-fi horror franchise, which first made its name as a viral hit in 2008 before expanding into a larger universe of stories involving aliens and alternate dimensions. You never know when a new installment might drop.
Such is the case with Cloverfield 4, which, as is tradition in this series, is shrouded in mystery. What we know for sure is that it’s being penned by British screenwriter Joe Barton and will be directed by Babak Anvari (Under the Shadow). Unlike the other sequels, 10 Cloverfield Lane and The Cloverfield Paradox, which began life as completely unrelated standalone scripts before being rewritten and integrated into the Cloverfield franchise, Cloverfield 4 is being developed specifically for the franchise.

Time is the measure of success or failure in the streaming world. Gal Gadot’s “Heart of Stone” earned 143 million hours in its first 10 days of Netflix availability. That fell short of Chris Hemsworth’s “Extraction 2” and Jennifer Lopez’s “The Mother,” which each notched 175 million-178 million hours in that same time period. All three movies, along with Zack Snyder’s upcoming two-part film “Rebel Moon,” represent a swiftly disappearing notion in the streaming world: The big-budget, English-language streaming movie is becoming a comparative rarity.
As one industry executive told TheWrap, “Peak streaming is over, Wall Street no longer loves it.”
Compared to just a couple of years ago, the sheer amount of direct-to-streaming movies has plummeted. Anthony Mackie told Inverse that he was so nervous to shoot opposite Harrison Ford on their first day of filming “Captain America: Brave New World” that he forgot the script. Marvel’s upcoming fourth “Captain America” movie finds Mackie’s Sam Wilson stepping into the title role for the first time in a feature film. Ford is a new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, replacing the late William Hurt as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.
“The first day was so intimidating,” Mackie said. “I was so fucking nervous I couldn’t remember my lines. He’s Harrison fucking Ford. There is this aura about him. But he dispels that really quickly because he’s such a cool guy. He’s everything a movie star should be. He would say, ‘Let’s shoot this piece of shit.’ And everybody was like, ‘Yeah, let’s shoot this shit.’”

"Captain America 4" now has a new name. Originally titled "Captain America: New World Order," the movie is now "Captain America: Brave New World." Whether the new movie will pay tribute to Aldous Huxley's classic 1932 sci-fi novel "Brave New World" remains to be seen, and reps for Disney did not respond to Popsugar's request for comment about the change.
Anthony Mackie, who stars as hero Sam Wilson, announced the news on his Instagram on June 6. "When Harrison Ford tells you how kicking ass should look, you listen!" he wrote in the caption. Is Aldous Huxley the new head of Hydra?
Marvel Studios has renamed its fourth First Avenger film “Captain America: Brave New World,” changing the 2024 release’s original title of “Captain America: New World Order.” The May 3 release date has not changed.
“Brave New World” is also the title of Huxley’s altogether too predictive 1932 dystopian novel, set in a futuristic World State. Disney did not explain the reason for the change in its Tuesday morning release, though the phrase “New World Order” carries a whiff of globalist politics that the literary “Brave New World” does not.
The studio also released its first set photo from the movie, currently in production. Harrison Ford and Anthony Mackie, who plays Sam Wilson and takes over the mantle of Cap for “Brave New World,” can be seen yukking it up behind the scenes.

“Captain America: New World Order” is now “Captain America: Brave New World.” Marvel Studios announced the title change for its upcoming fourth “Captain America” movie on social media alongside a first-look photo of stars Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford on the film’s set. Marvel originally announced last July that “Captain America 4” would be subtitled “New World Order” and be released on May 3, 2024. The release date remains unchanged for the newly titled “Brave New World.”
Mackie stars in the title role, making “Captain America 4″ his first outing as the eponymous hero in a feature film. The actor got his start in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Falcon, but he took on the Captain America shield in the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” Chris Evans originated the role of Captain America in the MCU, but he exited the part in “Avengers: Endgame.”

On Super Bowl Sunday 2018, director Ava DuVernay tweeted, "#FilmTwitter is going to explode tonight. Something is coming that I can hardly believe. Lawd. History in the making." She was teasing Netflix's surprise release of "The Cloverfield Paradox," the third installment in the hit sci-fi and horror franchise. The film hadn't officially been announced, but it dropped on the streaming service right after the game ended, sending shockwaves through the entertainment industry. Unfortunately -- perhaps in part because the hype reached wild levels in the hours leading up to the film's release -- critics were not fans of the movie. DuVernay has since deleted her tweet.
"The Cloverfield Paradox" is a relatively derivative sci-fi thriller. It spends much of its runtime explaining what's going on, spelling out the rules of its plot mechanics. At the same time, its story can be tough to follow. It also bends over backwards to...

Back in 2007, a website – Slusho.com – was launched to advertise a brand of drink called Slusho, which contained a highly addictive ingredient called Seabed’s Nectar (which is why “You can’t drink just six!”) and comes in flavors like Blueberry Zoom, Chocolate Rage, Mikan, Nashi, Banana Anime, and Strawberry Tasty. As it turned out, this was just viral marketing for the 2008 creature feature Cloverfield (watch it Here)… even though it didn’t have any relevance to the plot of the movie. At least, not from what we could see in the movie itself. Now another Cloverfield movie is in the works, with Under the Shadow‘s Babak Anvari on board to direct from a screenplay by iBoy writer Joe Barton – and the folks at Slash Film noticed that Slusho.com has been re-activated. The viral marketing site lives again!
A release date for Anvari and Barton’s Cloverfield movie hasn’t been announced.

It's been five years since a "Cloverfield" movie has graced our screens, but that appears to be changing now that a relic of the past from when the franchise first launched has resurfaced. As fans of the J.J. Abrams-produced monster movie franchise are no doubt well aware, secrecy and viral marketing have been a gimmick big part of the franchise since the very beginning. Now, a bit of viral marketing tied to the original 2008 blockbuster that started it all has us thinking that a sequel is imminent.
The Slusho website is once again active after being offline for some time. In 2007, well ahead of the release of "Cloverfield," a website for the fictional drink appeared and included an interactive game, though nothing directly connected to the movie. Plot: When an ex-soldier who discovers gold in the Lapland wilderness tries to take the loot into the city, Nazi soldiers led by a brutal SS officer battle him.
Review: If you saw John Wick: Chapter 4 in the theater, chances are you saw the trailer for Sisu. The brutally bloody teaser showcased the same level of carnage we have expected from David Leitch films like Nobody and Bullet Train, but Sisu is very different. Harkening to the bloodlust one feels dispatching Nazis in games like Wolfenstein 3D or in zombie films like Dead Snow and Iron Sky; Sisu is chock full of World War II German monsters getting what they deserve in every conceivable way as well as some you likely never would have thought up in a million years. Lionsgate is betting that American audiences will appreciate Sisu much like they did Inglourious Basterds, and I can confirm that they absolutely will.

The grand finale of the Fast & Furious franchise is starting to come together. Following the news that Fast X director Louis Leterrier would return to helm Fast & Furious 11, Deadline reports that Christina Hodson (The Flash) and Oren Uziel (The Cloverfield Paradox) have been tapped to write the script for the finale.
Fast X was penned by Dan Mazeau and Justin Lin based on a story Mazeau and Lin developed with Zach Dean. Neither Christina Hodson nor Oren Uziel has worked on the Fast & Furious franchise before, but Universal wanted some “new voices” for the finale. We should have a better idea of what to expect from Fast & Furious 11 once Fast X is released as Michelle Rodriguez has teased that the upcoming movie will end on a cliffhanger.

Christina Hodson and Oren Uziel will co-write the next “Fast and Furious” movie with “Fast X” helmer Louis Leterrier returning to direct.
Last week, Variety exclusively revealed that Leterrier would direct the next installment of “Fast and Furious,” which serves as a companion film to “Fast X,” opening May 19. The 11th film in the Vin Diesel-starring franchise will mark Hodson and Uziel’s first official collaboration.
While news of the team up might come as a surprise to some, the two in-demand creatives are friends and share office space, which made the decision to work together practically inevitable.
Hodson is a British-born, Los Angeles-based, writer and producer, who is best known for writing Paramount’s 2018 “Transformers” prequel “Bumblebee” and writing and co-producing 2020’s “Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey” for Warner Bros. and DC Comics. Her next project is the highly anticipated “The Flash” movie, also for Warner Bros. and DC Comics.

Ti West has locked in an all-star cast for his Mia Goth-led A24 horror pic MaXXXine, with Elizabeth Debicki (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.), Moses Sumney (The Idol), Michelle Monaghan (Nanny), Bobby Cannavale (The Watcher), Lily Collins (Emily in Paris), Halsey (Americana), Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call Saul) and Kevin Bacon (City on a Hill) closing deals for roles.
MaXXXine is the third title in A24‘s first major horror franchise, on the heels of West’s films X and Pearl, both of which were released to much acclaim last year. The ’70s-set X had Goth pulling double duty as Maxine, who sees her pornography-shooting friends violently murdered in Texas, and one of their elderly assailants, Pearl. The latter film, set in 1918, meanwhile, served up an origin story for the latter villain character.

Matt Reeves’ Cloverfield first struck obsessive curiosity in moviegoing audiences in 2008 with its found footage-style horror filmmaking, as it left more questions than answers. Its fans begged for a sequel, as news cycles jumped at the bit to claim every secret project could be the sequel we’ve all been waiting for. However, Dan Trachtenberg’s 10 Cloverfield Lane snuck into the franchise in 2016, making some of the smartest franchise decisions in recent memory.
’10 Cloverfield Lane’ introduced a new genre-bending mashup from its predecessor Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Michelle | Michele K. Short/Paramount Pictures
The first Cloverfield found the sweet spot between horror, science fiction, action, and adventure. The shaky cam was a bit too frantic for some audiences, but its sheer intensity proved invigorating for others. It was lightning in a bottle, further elevated by Paramount Pictures’ mysterious marketing tactics that never gave anything away until viewers were sitting in theaters upon its release.

The mystery of the movie's premise had finally been revealed, but audiences still had more questions than answers. The found footage monster movie puts audiences into the perspective of ordinary people unaware of the circumstances leading to a kaiju attack in New York, allowing "Cloverfield" to lean more into the thriller genre, never short on suspense or scares. The uncertainty of it all is a big reason why the film is so appealing. By the time the credits rolled on that ominous ending, discussion and theorizing were inevitable.
There was always speculation about another story following the events of "Cloverfield," although a direct sequel never came to fruition. Anthology films "10 Cloverfield Lane" and "The Cloverfield Paradox" were released and had Twilight-Zone-like approaches to their stories.

2023 marks the 15th anniversary of the release of the creature feature Cloverfield (watch it Here), which was directed by Matt Reeves from a screenplay by Drew Goddard and produced by J.J. Abrams. The Hollywood Reporter interviewed Reeves specifically to discuss the fact that 15 years have gone by since Cloverfield reached screens, and during the conversation Reeves mentioned an idea for a direct sequel to the film and revealed that he doesn’t think they could keep a movie secret today the way they did when they were working on Cloverfield.
When asked why a direct sequel to Cloverfield has been so tough to crack, Reeves answered, “Well, to be honest with you, when we finished, we [Reeves, Abrams, Goddard] all had ideas for what the sequel could be, and it was just one of those things where our schedules got pulled off into different directions. So we never ended up doing it in that way,...

Despite its kaiju trappings, Cloverfield always seemed like an unlikely movie to earn a sequel, let alone a franchise. One of the best entries of the 2000s found footage craze, Cloverfield was less a killer monster movie and more character driven, focusing largely on Rob (Michael Stahl-David) making his way across a devastated New York City to reunite with his ex-girlfriend Beth (Odette Yustman). When their story ended, so did sequel chances.
But that wasn’t always the plan. Talking about the movie’s 15th anniversary, director Matt Reeves recalled the sequel hook he included in the original film. “I did something in the movie when Hud [the videographer played by Tj Miller] is on the bridge before the tail comes and smashes the Brooklyn Bridge in half,” Reeves told The Hollywood Reporter. “There’s a moment where you actually see someone filming him and you realize, “Oh, there’s another perspective on this evening.

Cloverfield wasn’t Matt Reeves’ feature directorial debut, but it’s the film that put him on the trajectory towards two Planet of the Apes movies and 2022’s The Batman. Now, one would think that a found-footage monster film would be a walk in the park for a filmmaker who’s been making blockbusters look easy for the last decade, but having joined the enterprise late in the game alongside producer J.J. Abrams and screenwriter Drew Goddard, Reeves had his work cut out for him with production beginning just three months later.
With the film mostly taking place at night, Reeves himself shot a lot of the film handheld in order to achieve the cinéma vérité style, but the late nights and rushed schedule quickly took their toll.

Found footage was, it's easy to forget, a pretty major revolution in popular cinema. With roots dating back to "Cannibal Holocaust" in 1980, the form went mainstream with "The Blair Witch Project" in 1999. The film became an unexpectedly huge hit with its low-tech approach and ultra-tiny budget, and the subgenre absolutely exploded in the 2000s. This was, in part, because the movies could be made very cheaply and, secondly, because audiences were eating this stuff up. "Paranormal Activity" still ranks as the most profitable film of all time. The found footage boom was a huge, huge deal.
But, nearly a decade into the craze, the time for reinvention was upon us. Using the low-budget, supernatural horror approach can only take one so far.

The Cloverfield series was ambitious from the start. When the first teaser trailer made an unannounced premiere with Michael Bay’sTransformers back in 2007, it started buzz with mysterious, ominous found footage of an unseen force attacking New York City. It showed the head of the Statue of Liberty getting thrown onto a city street and capped off with only a date and no title. Since the release, the J.J. Abrams-produced movie would eventually turn into an anthology, with the word “Cloverfield” being the only connecting tissue.
