The title "Project X" was initially a placeholder for a final title. Todd Phillips said that they didn't have a title and so they just put "Project X" as a title page on the scripts—just for inside the office. However, people started talking about it as a secret project, the word spread, and the title was kept.
The movie consists of 47 songs.
On Blu-ray disc, an exclusive extended cut was released that runs more than six minutes longer than the well-known theatrical version. This version adds some pointless plot and numerous party impressions. Even though Warner Bros. officially doesn't release unrated versions any more, the new material would surely be suitable to call the extended cut as such.
