Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia have been cast to lead Amazon Prime Video’s thriller series “Obsession,” which was ordered at the end of last year.
The series is based on Catherine Ryan Howard’s novel “56 Days” and, per the official description, it follows “Oliver (Jogia) and Ciara who, after meeting randomly in a supermarket, fall for each other fast, and dangerously hard. Fifty-six days later, homicide investigators arrive at Oliver’s apartment to find an unidentified body—brutally murdered and intentionally decomposed. Did he kill her? Did she kill him? Intercutting between an intense single day in the present investigation and the twisted trajectory of the young lovers’ affair in the past, the series is both a unique crime story and a riveting, erotic, psychological thriller.”

The Beatles‘ “Let It Be” has inspired a huge number of covers, including a rendition by Woody Harrelson at a party. Paul McCartney himself happened to be there and so was Taylor Swift. Paul told Swift what he thought when Harrelson played the track. Notably, “Let It Be” is not the only classic rock song the movie star covered.
Paul McCartney was unimpressed when Woody Harrelson played The Beatles’ ‘Let It Be’
In a 2020 Rolling Stone article, Paul and Swift recalled bumping into each other at a party. Swift had fond memories of that time. Paul, on the other hand, was not the biggest fan of the music he heard there.
“I seem to remember Woody Harrelson got on the piano, and he starts playing ‘Let It Be,” and I’m thinking, ‘I can do that better,'” he said. “So I said, ‘Come on, move over, Woody.’ So we’re both playing it.

Riley Keough (The Lodge), Jesse Eisenberg (Zombieland: Double Tap, Vivarium), Nathan Zellner, and Christophe Zajac-Denek (“Twin Peaks: The Return”) star in the film.
As for plot, details remain scarce at this time other than it’s described as “a year in the life of a singular family.”
What we do know is that Eisenberg is playing a Sasquatch. As in, a head to toe hairy cryptid.
In a recent interview with Variety, the actor teased that he’d be going full cryptid in Sasquatch Sunset. “I play a Sasquatch: full makeup, full body hair, no lines. I grunt, but no lines,” he told the outlet. “I’m so looking forward to this.”

The Bulgarian producer of an espionage thriller sued Abigail Breslin, one of the film’s stars, on Friday, alleging that her “hysterical” and “imaginary” allegations against co-star Aaron Eckhart have imperiled the film’s release.
Dream Team Studios produced the film, entitled “Classified,” in Malta earlier this year. Eckhart plays a hitman who learns that his CIA handler has been dead for years. Breslin plays his daughter.
According to the lawsuit, the entire production “almost ground to a halt” when Breslin accused Eckhart of “aggressive, demeaning and unprofessional” behavior on set. Breslin alleged that his behavior “placed her at various times in peril,” and she refused to be alone with him in several scenes, according to the suit.
Breslin filed a complaint to SAG-AFTRA “setting forth her fears and blasting Eckhart’s behavior,” according to the suit. Eckhart’s representative did not respond to a request for comment.

It's hard to believe that the Orphan Black franchise is staging a comeback almost seven years after its series finale.
Thankfully, it looks like Orphan Black: Echoes will fit into the franchise very well.

"It follows a group of women as they weave their way into each other's lives and embark on a thrilling journey, unravelling the mystery of their identity and uncovering a wrenching story of love and betrayal.

Despite the mixed reactions and a lackluster box office reaction to last year’s Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, Sony is apparently forging ahead with another film. Sudbury.com has let slip that the city has received funding for a new film project called “The Umbrella Chronicles”.
The city, which was one of the filming locations for Welcome to Raccoon City, will be receiving $2 million Cad from the provincial government for the project, which is being developed by Raccoon Hg Film Productions. That same production company was behind the 2021 movie.
Sony has not officially announced a sequel to the Johannes Roberts-directed film, but given that the credits hinted at a sequel, things are looking like it’s in the works. After all, it would appear that this sequel is taking its name from the 2007 on-rails shooter Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles.

Vault director Tom DeNucci’s new film Johnny & Clyde is usually referred to as a “crime thriller”, but we’ve also heard that the story shifts gears to become a “balls-to-the-wall slasher/horror” flick. Since I have been a dedicated slasher fan since the 1980s, I’m looking forward to checking it out when it receives a theatrical and VOD release this Friday, May 5th. With the release just a few days away, a trailer for Johnny & Clyde has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.
Scripted by DeNucci and Nick Principe, Johnny & Clyde follows the two eponymous serial killers who are madly in love and on an endless crime spree. They have their sights set on robbing a prosperous casino run by crime boss Alana and her head of security.

It’s no coincidence that Johnny & Clyde sounds a lot like Bonnie and Clyde. Helping to usher in a new level of violence in mainstream film Arthur Penn’s film is one of the most influential and imitated films of its time. One can draw a line from Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker to Mickey and Mallory Knox, Oliver Stone’s Natural Born Killers. And from there to the latest film from director Tom DeNucci and co-writer Nick Principe who is probably better known for lending his imposing presence to films like Laid to Rest and FP2: Beats of Rage.

After directing the Marvel Comics adaptation Venom to its 856 million success at the box office, Ruben Fleischer turned his focus to making Zombieland: Double Tap and Uncharted – so Andy Serkis took over as director on Venom: Let There Be Carnage. That sequel earned 506 million at the pandemic era global box office, and Serkis said he would be glad to return to the helm for a follow-up. When asked by Metro whether he’d come back for Venom 3, he told them, “I mean, yeah, of course. It’s such a wonderful world to play in.” But a couple weeks ago, it was announced that Venom 3 is actually going to be directed by Kelly Marcel, who worked on the screenplays for both previous films. So what happened with Serkis?
Serkis told Slash Film that he’s too busy with other projects to work on Venom 3. He said, “Look, I...

The Sanderson sisters put another spell on “Hocus Pocus” fans — but did Disney miss out by bypassing theaters for a streaming-first release?
The straight-to-Disney+ sequel to the 1993 movie — a theatrical flop (45 million global on a 28 million budget) that later became a beloved cult phenomenon — debuted on the weekend of Sept. 30 with Nielsen viewership of 2.75 billion minutes viewed. The film dropped hard the first full week after that opening weekend, which isn’t unexpected, yet still posted a terrific 1.099 billion minutes viewed from October 3-9.
“Hocus Pocus 2” was also the fourth most in-demand movie over the month of October, behind Paramount’s “Top Gun: Maverick,” Sony/Marvel’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” Warner Bros./DC’s “Black Adam” — all big-screen blockbusters, according to data from Parrot Analytics. “Hocus Pocus 2” even finished ahead of Warner Bros.’ big-screen hit “The Batman” in terms of demand, which Parrot measures by factoring in consumer research,...

While I'm still mad that they didn't name the 2016 "Now You See Me" sequel "Now You Don't," there's a chance they'll be able to rectify that mistake. That's because a new movie in the unlikely franchise is finally getting off the ground thanks to "Uncharted" director Ruben Fleischer. Deadline reported that the director has been tapped to helm the third movie in the series, and he may have already confirmed the involvement of two of the franchise's stars.
"There are three things in this world I absolutely love," he wrote in a statement, "Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and magic. To have the chance to work with these two talented actors, as well as the rest of the incredible cast of the 'Now You See Me' movies is a dream come true."
If you may recall, Fleischer had previously worked with both Eisenberg and Harrelson on both "Zombieland" and "Zombieland: Double Tap.

Why do horror movies still feel undervalued? One thing’s for certain: In this age of geekery and craft reigning supreme, critics and academics no longer dismiss the genre as disreputable with the kneejerk regularity some once did. But even now there’s talk of “elevated horror” (see that concept’s lambasting in “Scream 5″) appearing in artier explorations of dread and terror — Ari Aster’s “Midsommar,” Luca Guadagnino’s “Suspiria,” Rose Glass’ “Saint Maud” — that are clearly distinguished from, well, non-elevated horror. The idea being that they engage your brain more than just showing brains…eaten by zombies or splattered against the wall.

Screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are used to movies taking a long time to get made. After all, they were hired to write Deadpool in 2010 and didn’t see the finished film onscreen until 2016. But in the case of their passion project, the new Netflix movie Spiderhead, even the process of getting the Merc with a Mouth into movie theaters was left in the dust.
“This was about a 10-year process,” Reese tells Den of Geek on a Zoom chat witth Wernick by his side. “It took almost 10 years to get when that thing was brought to us until the movie was on the screen.”
That thing is “Escape from Spiderhead,” a short story penned by acclaimed literary fiction writer and essayist George Saunders. The original story, published by The New Yorker in 2010, is about a man named Jeff who is sent to an experimental prison after he kills someone.

When it comes to horror/comedy, Zombieland is one of the top films on the list of many fans who witnessed the excellent feature back in 2009. To recall, it followed the adventures of Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock who are trying to simply adjust to a world that’s overrun by zombies. The film was a high benchmark that added something fresh and new to the world of zombie films, and fans have always wanted more of the feature that Ruben Fleischer introduced. There was a brief television series based on the movie, but that was quickly canceled by Amazon.

For Ruben Fleischer, Uncharted was two years in the making. But the feature take of the Sony PlayStation game has been in the works since 2008 with several directors attached, from David O. Russell and Neil Burger to Travis Knight and Shawn Levy to name just a few.
It just so happened that Fleischer’s schedule timed out right in regards to taking the reins, as he explains on this morning’s Presidents Day edition of the Hero Nation podcast. The opportunity arrived at just the right time, a few months after Zombieland: Double Tap. In fact, Fleischer only had a week’s break in between the shoots of Venom and Zombieland 2.
We talk with the Zombieland franchise and Venom filmmaker about the tricks to translating a popular video game to the big screen, a feat often laced with peril for any studio or director. Listen to our conversation below:...

As far as films based on video games go, Uncharted may not be scraping the bottom of the barrel, nor is it the crème de la crème. It instead proves to be a moderately entertaining adventure yarn that echoes better films that have come before, and will probably follow it.
The plot follows the exploits of hustler/thief Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) after he partners with Indiana Jones wannabe Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to search for a fortune in gold lost five hundred years earlier by Ferdinand Magellan. Sully had been working with Nathan’s long-lost brother, but now needs Nathan’s help if he is going to lay claim to the treasure before another treasure seeker, Moncada (Antonio Banderas), who insists his family has the only legitimate claim to the fortune.
After Nathan and Sully team up with fellow adventure Sophia Ali (Chloe Frazer) the film begins to...

A full ten years passed between the release of Zombieland and 2019 sequel Zombieland: Double Tap, but will it be another ten years – if at all? – before we see Zombieland 3?
