- [Mrs. Adams is looking at the apartment listings]
- Mrs. Adams: This one here that's not too bad. 1080 Park Avenue. What's the cross street?
- Margie Margolin: 88th Street.
- Mrs. Adams: Oh no, that's too far uptown. Couldn't you give me the same apartment in the 60's?
- Margie Margolin: No. It's attached to the building.
- Ann Stanley: [after being told she looks beautiful] It's called Love.
- Margie Margolin: I'd like to try it, but I'm married.
- Ann Stanley: How dare you come here! How DARE You!
- Peter Latham: Well no one dared me, it was my own idea.
- Ann Stanley: [Locking up the office door, she begins giving Peter orders quietly] Now you are going to drive us and then you are going to say goodbye, because you have a date that you forgot about.
- [Then with a strained smile she walks towards her mother and the elevator]
- Ann Stanley: Peter is going to drop us off, but he won't be able to come up, because he has a date that he forgot about.
- Maud Ericson: Oh?
- [She turns toward Peter, who has been formulating an idea]
- Peter Latham: I play poker every Wednesday evening.
- [He says with a twinge of regret]
- Maud Ericson: But this is Friday!
- Peter Latham: [Grinning Brightly over at Ann, who is quietly fuming at his cleverness] Of course! I'm free!
- Peter Latham: [as the women get on the elevator, Peter leans in as Ann passes with a non contrite] I tried.
- Trina Stanley: Well if you're so rich, you ought to make Mommy get you one of those Sexy apartments over at River House.
- Maud Ericson: Trina,
- [with disapproval in her tone, moves over to sit beside Trina on the couch]
- Maud Ericson: I'm sure Peter has told your mother exactly what he wants.
- [the two woman look over at Peter]
- Peter Latham: Oh, yes,
- [he laughs]
- Peter Latham: she knows Exactly what I want.
- [knowing that they don't get his real meaning]
- Peter Latham: [Repeated] You are a silly helpless woman; and cars aren't the only thing you know nothing about.
- Ann Stanley: What do you want?
- Peter Latham: An apartment.
- Ann Stanley: [Confused] What's wrong with the one you're in?
- Peter Latham: It's lonely.
- [He says simply as he takes a step towards her]
- Peter Latham: Have dinner with me.
- Ann Stanley: How long do you think it will be before he starts looking at younger women? He will you know. It's only natural.
- Billy Boylan: [laughing at this thought] Never. Not that kid! He may start looking at older women, but never younger!
