Days of our Lives viewers were introduced to Felicity and actress Kennedy Garcia in a history-making role today.
Felicity turned out to be an excellent baker who works part-time for Chanel (Raven Bowens) at Sweet Bits.
Further implementing Felicity into the Salem fold, she is also the younger sister of Tate’s (Leo Howard) friend Aaron (Louis Tomeo).
Ahead of her soap opera debut, Kennedy opened up about being the first teen with Down Syndrome to secure a regular role in the soap genre.
Kenned kept the news a secret for nearly six months until her birthday when she shared it via Instagram.
Now that the cat’s out of the bag, Kennedy has spoken out about her role on Days and her connection to one The Young and the Restless star.

IndieWire launched our “Pass the Remote” FYC TV screening series, produced in partnership with Disney, with a dynamic casting directors panel April 25, two Disney Storytellers panels April 29, and a panel about “Abbott Elementary” May 20.
Next up? A “Jim Henson Idea Man” panel on May 24 celebrating the documentary about the Muppets creator, which just premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Like all events in the “Pass the Remote” screening series, it will take place at the Vidiots Foundation in Los Angeles’s Eagle Rock neighborhood.
Legendary director Ron Howard will be in attendance on the panel, as will composer David Fleming and editor Paul Crowder. Howard is a two-time Oscar winner. In recent vintage, he’s become a more prolific documentary director, with films such as “The Beatles: Eight Days a Week” (2016), “Pavarotti” (2019), “Rebuilding Paradise” (2020), and 2022’s profile of Jose Andres and the World Central Kitchen, “We Feed People.”

If you were to learn that Disney+, from the company that owns the work created by the late Jim Henson, was broadcasting a documentary about the visionary puppeteer and filmmaker and that doc was being directed by Ron Howard with substantial input from Henson’s family, you could probably guess what the movie would be like.
And you’d be right.
In this case, though, there’s nothing wrong with a little predictability. Henson and Howard are a fine match, and the sort of film you’d expect Ron Howard to make – straightforward, skillful, honest and sympathetic – is pretty much the kind of movie you’d want about Jim Henson.
There are surprises in “Jim Henson Idea Man,” which had its world premiere on Saturday night in the Cannes Classics section of the Cannes Film Festival. But there’s nothing shocking, nothing earthshaking about this portrait of the man who gave us Big Bird,...

It may not be too much of an exaggeration to say that Jim Henson came up with the concept for an immersive video dome long before Sphere bubbled up in Las Vegas.
In the mid-1960s he developed an idea for a nightclub he called Cyclia – “the entertainment experience of the future” – that would feature crystal panels throughout the ceiling, floor and walls onto which films would be projected.
“Once an hour, a woman in a white leotard would rise from a pedestal in the center of the floor to have film projected on her body as she danced,” writes author Brian Jay Jones in Jim Henson: A Biography.
For better or worse, the psychedelia-inspired concept never became a reality. But it’s an example of the restless imagination that propelled Henson throughout his life. The incredible range of Henson’s creative urges come into focus in Ron Howard’s documentary Jim Henson Idea Man,...

It’s fitting that Ron Howard’s documentary “Jim Henson Idea Man” gets its name from the man himself. During an early bit of voiceover, we hear the “Sesame Street” and “Muppets” creator describe his take on just what it is he does: Idea man. Nothing more, nothing less.
As the film winds on, others are more lofty in their estimations. Henson was a “man with a purpose,” a superhuman, someone for whom terms like “incredibly productive” can’t do justice. He “wanted to do more than was humanly possible,” one of Henson’s adult children tells us. Howard’s film reminds us how true that was during Henson’s lifetime and into his continuing legacy.
Henson was a puppeteer and creator of everything from The Muppets to “Fraggle Rock,” an animator and actor, a TV genius (Henson’s fingerprints are still on every element of “Sesame Street”), and a filmmaker.

Kennedy Garcia has been tapped by Days of Our Lives to portray a new character named Felicity and will make her soap debut the week of May 20. The young actress, who began performing at the age of five, has appeared in a range of hit shows from This Is Us to 9-1-1 to Sesame Street. She was particularly thrilled to join the cast of Days. “I got the audition for Felicity last year, and I was so excited!” she enthuses. “I have wanted to be on a soap opera for a long time, so for a role to come up for a teenager with Down syndrome was just amazing!” Garcia was already quite familiar with daytime television — she’s a big fan of The Young and the Restless. “My mom and I watch Young and the Restless every day, and have since I was born,” she reports. “In fact, a...

Direct-to-consumer revenue is up 70% year-over-year for Warner Bros. Discovery, and the ascendence of the ad tier of Max is a big reason why.
By now, even those who don’t follow big media companies closely likely know that Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is a man singularly focused on the bottom line. Zaslav’s two-year tenure as head of Wbd has been marked by numerous periods of frugality from the company, which is hardly surprising considering the 2022 merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery created a firm with more than $40 billion of debt. Content cuts became a part of life for the company’s streaming service that was known as HBO Max when Zaslav took over, and viewers lost access to everything from “Westworld” to episodes of “Sesame Street” as the company tried to slash its way to better financial standing. After mounting a strike threat that was later averted, Sesame Workshop writers have ratified a new five-year labor contract that their union president is touting as “groundbreaking.”
Twenty-eight out of the group of 35 workers voted to support a tentative deal reached on April 19, while the remaining seven abstained from voting. The Writers Guild of America East and West, which represent the workers, who write shows including Sesame Street, Helpsters and The Not Too Late Show With Elmo, announced the results on Friday.
The new agreement expands work that is covered under the union contract to include writing for all projects distributed on SVOD platforms, educational programs, new media videos that are shared on TikTok and YouTube and animated titles.
WGA East president Lisa Takeuchi Cullen said in a statement that the new contract contains “groundbreaking protections.” She added, “Make no mistake — these historic gains mark an important step in organizing animation.

The line between reality and fiction in television hasn't always been obvious to people. Be it "Gilligan's Island" viewers badgering the Coast Guard to rescue the S.S. Minnow's poor shipwrecked crew or grown-up "Sesame Street" fans believing that Sonia Manzano and Emilio Delgado (who played married couple Maria and Luis for four decades) were actually hitched, history is littered with anecdotes of audiences assuming what they're seeing on their TV screen is actually happening. Despite the leaps and gains in the masses' media literacy over time, folks still need help understanding how even docuseries and so-called reality shows can easily manipulate the truth (as creators Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie satirized with "The Curse").
When Sally Struthers was cast as Gloria Stivic (née Bunker) in "All in the Family," she was, for all intents and purposes, a nobody. Save for her stint on "The Tim Conway Comedy Hour" the...

With a career that spans 38 years and counting, Hideo Kojima is indeed one of the most prominent names in the gaming world. Kojima-san gave the world one of the most popular stealth game franchises, Metal Gear Solid, which first came out all the way back in 1987. The games got contagiously popular as he redefined the stealth genre, over the guns-blazing approach like the other games of that period.

Ron Howard’s Cannes-bound documentary Jim Henson Idea Man reveals a man of inexhaustible creativity – a puppeteer, filmmaker, artist, performer and inventor. The Muppets were just one part of Jim Henson’s astonishing body of work.
“I had met him briefly. I knew people who knew him very well, who held him in such high esteem. He was a very modest guy,” Howard noted during an appearance at Deadline’s Contenders Television: Documentary + Unscripted event. “But at an immediate first glance, I still didn’t realize the scope of what he had accomplished in his 53 short years — far too short. And so I was curious about this sort of explosion of creativity and what was the engine behind him and it? And I knew he was passionate about his work; everyone knew that. But I didn’t know where this kind of outlier mentality came from, combined with this extraordinary amount of work.

It is always nice whenever past creatives are highlighted for how they helped shape not only their careers but also the lives of others around them. One of those creatives was Jim Henson, a pioneer in children’s entertainment and puppetry. His life and career are the subject matter of an upcoming documentary, Jim Henson Idea Man, which just released its first trailer.
The upcoming Disney+ documentary will explore Henson’s early days crafting puppets by hand to having his name become one of the biggest in family entertainment. Interviews with his fellow creatives, actors, and family all shed light on his life and career.
Jim Henson started working on things such as the infamous Wilken’s Coffee commercials. He would eventually craft several characters who eventually became the cast of the world-renowned Muppets. Many of the characters would appear on various talk shows and sketch comedy shows before eventually becoming their own brand.

Writers at Sesame Workshop reached a five-year agreement with the production company behind “Sesame Street,” averting the possibility of picket lines popping up in the show’s friendly neighborhood.
The Writers Guild of America confirmed the deal late Friday. The group of 35 writers employed by the nonprofit organization voted unanimously to support a strike authorization vote last week.
“We are so proud to work for an organization that values its writers, and we believe this new contract will positively impact writers throughout the children’s media landscape. ‘S’ truly is for Solidarity. We are glad to have a contract in place that allows Sesame to do what it does best – lead,” the WGA’s Sesame Workshop Negotiating Committee said in a statement.
The union sought to ensure that writing for the show’s animated segments and social media content would be covered by minimum rates. According to the guild, the deal includes those provisions.

Robert MacNeil, the trusted son of a Canadian naval officer who spent two decades alongside Jim Lehrer delivering the nightly news to PBS viewers, died Friday, PBS announced. He was 93.
MacNeil died of natural causes at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, his daughter, Alison MacNeil, told the Associated Press.
MacNeil and Lehrer first teamed to cover the Senate Watergate hearings in 1973, and their live coverage earned them an Emmy. In 1975, they launched a half-hour program that would become The MacNeil/Lehrer Report; it covered a single story in depth and collected more than 30 awards, including a Peabody, a DuPont and several Emmys.
The program in 1983 became The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour, the nation’s first 60-minute evening news program. Rather than concentrate on one topic, it provided comprehensive coverage and analysis of the day’s important stories.

Puppeteers working to bring Jim Henson’s Fraggle Rock to life are speaking out about that moment when, on the Today show in February, comic actor Larry David physically attacked beloved Sesame Street favorite Elmo live on-air.
At a press event for the release of Apple TV’s Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock this week, The Hollywood Reporter caught up with puppeteers John Tartaglia (puppeteer for Gobo Fraggle) and Dan Garza (puppeteer for Junior Gorg), who said they were taken aback by David’s unplanned attack on the puppet, which they said could be potentially dangerous for puppeteers.
“You know, there was a person’s hand inside of there and that wasn’t a pretty planned thing. And so the puppeteer in me was like, ‘Oh my god, that’s super dangerous. Like, you just grabbed someone’s hand and twisted it,’” Tartaglia said, confirming that ultimately the puppeteer was Ok.
