Quotes
-
Marie Kolverer : I suppose you are too exhausted playing with balloons to stand up.
Colonel Kranau : Certainly I'll stand up, if you'll hand me my crutches.
-
Colonel Kranau : [buying a nosegay] You know, most people think of death as a very ugly old man.
Flower seller : Thank you, sir.
Colonel Kranau : I think of death as a beautiful young woman wearing flowers.
Marie Kolverer : [smelling the flowers] Roses?
Colonel Kranau : Well, she might be wearing roses. Have a cigarette?
Marie Kolverer : What makes you think of death?
Colonel Kranau : Was I thinking of death?
-
Marie Kolverer : I'm glad you escaped. Your untimely death might have disturbed my conscience.
Colonel Kranau : Nonsense. It's all in the game. Had I caught you in my country, I'd have had you shot without hesitation. But we're both alive yet. And you can make my last few hours in Vienna very pleasant.
Marie Kolverer : Are you going to leave Vienna so soon?
Colonel Kranau : I'm afraid I'll have to, or give up my, uh, profession. It's become too dangerous.
Marie Kolverer : [she aims a pistol at him] Perhaps I can persuade you to stay.
Colonel Kranau : I really don't need persuasion.
[she tries to call for backup and discovers he cut the phone line]
Colonel Kranau : You're not going to turn me over because of a kiss. And now, are you going to shoot me yourself?
Marie Kolverer : Yes, if you leave me no other choice.
Colonel Kranau : Your conscience, apparently, is not going to be disturbed this time.
Marie Kolverer : Stay where you are!
Colonel Kranau : Better shoot quickly, of I'll take that plaything away from you.
Marie Kolverer : Stay where you are.
[she tries to shoot him]
Colonel Kranau : I think I removed the cartridges.
-
Colonel Kranau : Do you like this masquerade as much as my last one?
Marie Kolverer : You're still a clown.
Colonel Kranau : I'm a colonel in the Russian Army, and when necessary I fly across the line and play the clown, or the Austrian officer. I'm a soldier, but you bring something into war that doesn't belong in it. You trick men into death with your body.
Marie Kolverer : Give me a kiss.
Colonel Kranau : You're a cheat and a liar.
Marie Kolverer : Why don't you stay here? Perhaps I don't always cheat and lie.
Colonel Kranau : If you kept me here another minute, I'd not only be in danger of losing my life, but of falling in love with you, you devil.
-
Colonel Kranau : Everybody makes mistakes, and you carry a cat.
Marie Kolverer : It has brought me good luck so far.
Colonel Kranau : Do you call this good luck?
Marie Kolverer : I don't know yet. Besides, I'm not allowed to love anything else.
Colonel Kranau : I like your masquerade.
-
Colonel Kranau : Hmm, music. Did you write this?
Marie Kolverer : Yes.
Colonel Kranau : Your own composition, huh?
Marie Kolverer : I don't use invisible ink.
Colonel Kranau : What do you call this masterpiece?
Marie Kolverer : I haven't named it yet.
Colonel Kranau : May I suggest you call it "The Dance of the Russian Colonel"?
-
Colonel Kranau : I think I'm falling madly in love with you. The more you cheat and the more you lie, the more exciting you become, X-27.
-
Marie Kolverer : I wish this night could last forever. It will be dawn soon.
Colonel Kranau : I don't understand why a woman like you should choose a road that leads to such a death.
Marie Kolverer : It's not a bad death to die for my country. It's better than gas or the river.
Colonel Kranau : What has gas or the river to do with you?
Marie Kolverer : Nothing... now.
-
Marie Kolverer : You don't remember me, do you?
Colonel Kranau : I've never seen you before.
Marie Kolverer : You have a very faulty memory for a spy.
-
Marie Kolverer : You still don't seem to remember me.
Colonel Kranau : It may be very good for you that I don't choose to remember you.
Marie Kolverer : Oh I don't know. This gun... is loaded.
Colonel Kranau : What is it you want?
Marie Kolverer : I have ten minutes in which to make you talk.
Colonel Kranau : You're wasting your time and mine.
Marie Kolverer : What would you rather do than talk?
Colonel Kranau : If you don't mind, I'd rather be up in the air, flying.
-
Colonel Kranau : If it weren't going to be more exciting out there, I'd be tempted to stay with you. Hope you're on my side, next war.
