As Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) celebrated her primary election victory on Tuesday night, her former colleague and boyfriend, special prosecutor Nathan Wade, watched from the audience.
In March, Wade abruptly resigned from his role as the special prosecutor in the high-profile Georgia election interference case and admitted to a romantic affair with Willis while he was working there. The presiding judge, Scott McAfee, stated that due to the affair, either Willis or Wade would need to recuse themselves from the case.
Lawyers who represented Donald Trump and the 14 others accused in the alleged scheme to illegally overturn Trump’s loss in the 2020 Georgia presidential election quickly seized upon the revelation. They requested McAfee dismiss the case and argued that Willis and Wade had benefited financially from their relationship through lavish vacations and that Wade had been paid more than other prosecutors who worked on the same case.

Former model Crystal McKinney has filed a lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs alleging she was drugged and sexually assaulted by the music mogul at his New York City recording studio in 2003.
According to the complaint, filed in New York and obtained by and reported on by NBC News, a then 22-year-old McKinney, first met Combs at a dinner at Cipriani Downtown in Manhattan and was told she “was going to make it big one day” as a model and was promised help in her career.
The lawsuit adds that later that evening McKinney went to Combs’ recording studio and one of his associates offered her a joint of marijuana. “Plaintiff later came to understand that Combs had laced the joint with a narcotic or other intoxicating substance,” the suit alleges.
“Seeing Plaintiff was very intoxicated, Combs demanded Plaintiff follow him and he physically led Plaintiff to the bathroom,” the complaint adds,...

Update: The testimony is done in Donald Trump’s hush money trial, and the jurors are off until next Tuesday, but Judge Juan Merchan still found cause this afternoon to call out one of Trump’s lawyers.
Merchan scolded lawyer Emil Bove during a conference on jury instructions for trying to resurrect a defense that the judge rejected during pre-trial motions. Merchan said it was “disingenuous” of Bove to bring the matter up again. It was a moment reminiscent of the judge warning defense lawyer Todd Blanche that he was “losing all credibility” during a gag order hearing in April.
The subject today was “advice of counsel,” in which defendants can lessen or eliminate their guilt by providing evidence that they relied on what their lawyers told them. More than two hours into the negotiation, Bove raised the subject — but apparently under a different name, “involvement of counsel.” The language...

The Yellowstone drama has been a serious part of the modern popular culture that has filtered out of the lives of the cast, crew, and director and into that of the audience. For more than a year now, Kevin Costner and Taylor Sheridan have nipped at each otherʼs heels trying to resolve the issue via compromise, but while misconceptions have muddied the water for the viewers, the relationship between the showʼs director and his lead remains very much the same.
Yellowstone [Credit: Paramount Network]For the better part of the past year, the extensive commitment that Sheridan has granted toward the creation of separate shows for Paramount Network has led to a chasm between the Yellowstone scribe and Costner. Update: A “suicidal” Michael Cohen said he almost threw himself off a 21-story building on Park Avenue in Manhattan because he saw no other way out after an FBI raid turned him into a federal criminal target, a lawyer testified this afternoon in the hush money trial of Cohen’s former boss, Donald Trump.
Shortly after prosecutors for the Manhattan District Attorney rested their case against the former president, the lawyer, Robert Costello, was called by Trump’s defense team to discuss a meeting with Cohen. The meeting took place a week after an April 2018 raid by the FBI on Cohen’s hotel room, home, office and safety deposit box.
“He was putting on quite a show,” criminal defense lawyer Costello said, referring to the sit-down at the Loews Regency New York hotel, where Cohen was also staying with his family when the raid occurred.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains details of tonight’s Blue Bloods Season 14 midseason finale, which is the close of the first part of the NYPD family drama’s final season.
“Father, forgive me for I have sinned,” says New York Police commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) in church in tonight’s Blue Bloods last midseason finale as he tries to repair a rift with his actual father, the former NYPD commissioner Henry Reagan (Len Cariou).
It ain’t the Sunday dinner that defines the well-watched CBS series, but it certainly was a moment of affirmation for perspicacious fans who may be speculating where their show is going to go in its final episodes after a long long run. Put another way, Blue Bloods may be ending later this year, but you’d never know it from the Season 14 midseason finale that aired tonight.

French cinema’s Judith Godrèche, a former child star-turned-filmmaker and prominent #MeToo activist, weighed in during Cannes Day 4 on the April 25 reversal of Harvey Weinstein’s rape conviction in New York, slamming it as “an absolute nightmare.”
Speaking with TheWrap founder and editor-in-chief Sharon Waxman on Thursday as part of TheWrap Conversations at the Brand Innovators Salon D’Affaires, Godrèche expressed sympathy for the women who may have to testify again if a new trial is held.
“It’s a nightmare, an absolute nightmare. I can’t even imagine,” Godrèche said. “Somehow people [like] him are winning. There is enough pain and hurt that it should not be allowed. Sen. Bob Menendez’s (D-New Jersey) defense lawyer claimed that his wife, Nadine Menendez, carried out a bribery scheme behind his back during opening statements at his federal trial.
Menendez’s lawyer, Avi Weitzman, told jurors in a Manhattan federal court on May 15 that Nadine “sidelined” his client, who prosecutors claim took gold bars, hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and a Mercedes convertible in exchange for wielding his influence to assist three businessmen and the governments of Qatar and Egypt.
“[Menendez] didn’t know about Nadine’s dealings,” Weitzman stated. “You can’t just assume that Bob knows about them. He did not violate the law, and the allegations by the United States Attorney’s Office are wrong, dead wrong. He did not ask for bribes. He did not get any bribes.”

Update: Michael Cohen appeared to win a battle this afternoon over how reliable his memory is of eight-year-old phone calls with Donald Trump, after faltering in an earlier round of cross-examination questioning today in the former president’s hush money trial in New York.
Before a lunch break, Trump lawyer Todd Blanche got Cohen to admit that his memory of a key call with Trump in late October 2016 — to discuss paying off porn star Stormy Daniels — was largely a product of reviewing phone logs provided by prosecutors.
Blanche showed Cohen texts from the same exact time frame that suggested another matter — a 14-year-old prank caller — was the reason Cohen rang Trump’s bodyguard.
Cohen said he still believed that the bodyguard, Keith Schiller, handed the phone to Trump so he could report to the presidential candidate that a deal with Daniels was close. Cohen was getting ready to pay her...

The latest salvo from MLB is another indication that the league is eager to be quits with Diamond as a broadcasting partner.
Anyone following the Diamond Sports Group bankruptcy case since the company filed for Chapter 11 protections in March 2023 knows that its relationship with Major League Baseball is not an amicable one. The MLB is anxious to get its teams away from Bally Sports regional sports networks (RSNs), as cord-cutting has made the entire Rsn model highly unstable. Diamond’s reorganization plan for emerging from bankruptcy as a going concern hinges on its ability to make a new carriage deal with Comcast, but the last deal between the two lapsed without an extension or new agreement being reached. Now, Bally Sports channels are unavailable for Comcast cable subscribers, and MLB lawyers joined with NBA and NHL representatives at a virtual bankruptcy court hearing this week to express their concerns with the way Diamond is proceeding.

Uh-oh, the new Da may be in some serious trouble in the Law & Order Season 23 finale. The NBC drama wraps its current season on May 16 with “In Harm’s Way,” in which a sports star is killed, but Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) and Riley (Reid Scott) suspect the shooter missed their intended target. In fact, in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek, Dixon tells Baxter (Tony Goldwyn)—the shooting happened in front of him and his family—that he was the intended victim. “We had a trajectory analyst review the video of the shooting, and it’s clear he was aiming for you. If you hadn’t moved when you did, that bullet would’ve struck you squarely in the back of the head,” Dixon explains. There’s a citywide manhunt to track the shooter down. Baxter’s wife (Tara Westwood) thinks that Baxter should suspend his campaign for District Attorney.

Updated: Donald Trump’s attorney in the former president’s hush money trial went straight at the prosecution’s star witness, Michael Cohen, kicking off a profanity-laced cross examination.
To start off, Todd Blanche introduced himself to Cohen, saying that although they’d never met “you went on TikTok and called me a crying little s—t” after the trial started.
“Sounds like something I would say,” Cohen deadpanned before a prosecutor could finish objecting to the question.
So it went for much of the next two hours in a Manhattan courtroom: Blanche confronting Cohen with insults he’s lobbed mainly at Trump on his podcasts and social media, including a TikTok account he signed up for about six weeks ago to live-stream chats, and Cohen allowing that he had probably said those things.
“Dictator d—bag,” “boorish cartoon misogynist” and “Cheetoh-dusted cartoon villain” were a few of the slurs that Cohen admitted to.

Update: Judge Juan Merchan told the prosecutors in Donald Trump’s hush money trial to pass along a message to one of their likely witnesses, lawyer Michael Cohen: Please stop talking or posting on social media about the case.
Moments before the day in court ended early around lunchtime, Judge Merchan took up a request from defense lawyer Todd Blanche, who said, “Mr. Cohen continues to speak publicly about this trial.”
Blanche cited a TikTok post this week by Cohen wearing a white t-shirt with a picture of Trump behind bars. Ryan Boyajian, who along with fiancée Jennifer Pedranti appears on The Real Housewives of Orange County, is reportedly caught up in the $16 million gambling and theft scandal surrounding the former interpreter of Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani.
ESPN, citing multiple sources, reported that Boyajian is the bookmaker’s associate to whom interpreter Ippei Mizuhara wired money to pay his gambling debts.
Mizuhara today agreed to plead guilty to two federal charges related to the theft of nearly $17 million from the Dodger slugger’s bank account. Prosecutors say Mizuhara used that money to pay off illegal gambling debts.
Ippei Mizuhara, 39, could face more than 30 years in federal prison under the plea deal, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Per ESPN, Mizuhara’s illegal bookmaker told the interpreter he could pay his gambling debts by wiring money to “Associate 1.” That, according to ESPN, is Boyajian.

Update: Stormy Daniels faced a contentious cross examination today over her claim that she had sex with Donald Trump in 2006 and that, five years later, a stranger threatened her in a Las Vegas parking lot to not talk about the sexual encounter publicly.
Susan Necheles, a lawyer for Trump, questioned Daniels’ motivations and tried to cast doubt on her story. She also highlighted the fact that Daniels owes more than $500,000 in legal fees from a failed defamation lawsuit against Trump.
Necheles argued that as far back as 2011, Daniels was alternately confirming or denying sex with Trump depending on whether she was being paid for her story.
A $130,000 payment to Daniels in 2016 from Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, is the centerpiece of the Manhattan District Attorney’s case against Trump, for allegedly falsifying business records to conceal a reimbursement of the money to Cohen. Daniels, a key prosecution witness, spent more...

The Kathy Bates-led reboot of "Matlock" may not hit TV screens for a while longer, but in the meantime, fans of the much-loved legal drama can still catch old episodes of the original run, well, pretty much everywhere. "Matlock" aired for nine years, moving from NBC to ABC partway through its run and switching up its cast list throughout. Though several actors played more than one character throughout the series' run, only a handful appeared in more than 30 episodes of the series, most of them as Ben Matlock's legal associates. Prosecutors Play Recording Of Donald Trump And Michael Cohen Discussing Hush Money Payments — Update
Update: Jurors today heard a recording in which Donald Trump and his then-lawyer and “fixer,” Michael Cohen, discuss payments to Karen McDougal, the former Playboy model who claimed to have had an affair with The Apprentice host.
The recording was made by Cohen in September of 2016 — and first reported on by CNN in 2018. In it, Trump and Cohen discussed buying the rights to McDougal’s story.
“I need to open up a company for the transfer of all of that info regarding our friend David,” Cohen said, referring to David Pecker, then-ceo of American Media, the tabloid publisher that bought McDougal’s story for $150,000 with the intention of burying it.
When Cohen turned to the subject of “financing,” Trump asked, “What financing?”
“We’ll have to pay,” Cohen said. It wasn’t clear from the garbled audio at that point whether Trump agreed. Pecker, a prosecution witness last week, said...

Harvey Weinstein will be retried in New York on rape and sexual offence charges after his 23-year conviction was overturned on appeal, Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said on Wednesday.
The disgraced 72-year old former Hollywood titan appeared in court in a wheelchair wearing a blue suit and according to reports did not speak in a brief hearing. Reports said Attorney Gloria Allred and Weinstein accuser Jessica Mann attended the hearing.
Prosecutors said there was nothing consensual about Weinstein’s conduct in reference to prior charges that led to the original conviction in February 2020, and told Judge Curtis Farber they would be proceeding.

Exclusive: Despite a myriad of health issues landing the incarcerated Harvey Weinstein in hospital last week, the much-accused producer is still expected to show up in court tomorrow — at least right now.
“Mr. Weinstein entered prison with serious medical issues, and they have not magically disappeared, but are being managed,” the producer’s long-time spokesperson Juda Engelmayer tells Deadline of his client who is suffering from diabetes, cardiac issued, sleep apnea, and who is also near blind.
Following the April 25 overturning of his 2020 sex crimes conviction, the past few days have seen a storm of rumors that 72-year-old Weinstein wouldn’t make the re-arraignment hearing in the early afternoon local time at 100 Centre Street in Manhattan. While Weinstein’s current condition is far from critical at present and he is under observation at Bellevue, one well-positioned law enforcement source said that “things could turn on a dime” and not to rule out “more drama.

Update: The lawyer for Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels further outlined the hush money deals made to his clients, including his suspicion that Donald Trump was “the one” who ultimately funded the Daniels payoff.
Lawyer Keith Davidson said on Tuesday that he did not enjoy having to deal with Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen.
The tension went back to a hostile phone call in 2011 after a gossip site called TheDirty blogged about rumors of a sexual liaison between adult film star Daniels and Trump. “Before I could barely get my name out, I was met with a hostile barrage of insults and allegations,” Davidson testified in Trump’s hush-money trial in Manhattan.
Cohen was “just screaming,” Davidson said, and he accused Davidson’s clients, Daniels and her manager, Gina Rodriguez, of leaking the claim to TheDirty. “Finally, after he finished,” Davidson recalled, he assured Cohen that Daniels didn’t want the story publicized.

“They examined him and sent him to Bellevue. It seems like he needs a lot of help, physically,” Aidala said. “He’s got a lot of problems. He’s getting all kinds of tests. He’s somewhat of a train wreck health wise.”
Frank Dwyer, a spokesperson with the New York City Department of Correction, said Weinstein remains in custody at Bellevue.
“Mr. Weinstein has a history of high blood pressure, heart issues, and a myriad of other health conditions. The trip from the Walsh Rmu to NYC triggered some of the health issues that warranted closer monitoring,” Juda Engelmayer, Weinstein’s spokesperson, told Variety in a statement.

Updated: After David Pecker finished his fourth day of testimony, the next prosecution witness in Donald Trump’s hush money trial Friday was Rhona Graff, Trump’s longtime assistant.
Graff was a Trump Organization employee who, while there, kept contacts for both Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal in the company’s computer system. She testified today that she had a “vague recollection” of once seeing Daniels in an office reception area of Trump Tower, and “assumed” it was because Trump was considering her as a contestant on his Celebrity Apprentice reality TV show.
“He thought that she would be an interesting addition,” she testified, citing “office chatter” as the basis for her opinion. Graff said she was aware that Daniels was an adult film performer.
Graff worked for Trump for 34 years, rising from his executive assistant beginning in 1987 to senior vice president until her departure in 2021. She testified under subpoena on Friday,...

Chrisley Knows Best fans predicted a disappointing outcome for Savannah Chrisley with Todd and Julie Chrisley’s oral arguments appeal, but is all hope gone for them? After the appeal, in an update, Savannah seemed down, so curious USA Network fans wonder if the attorney, Alex Little prepared her for bad news.
Todd & Julie Chrisley’s Appeal Alleged Misconduct
Only a very small percentage of federal oral argument appeals are granted. So, in his filings, Alex Little must have had a good basis to get the opportunity in the appellate court. Most of the arguments labored the issues of alleged misconduct by the prosecution. Additionally, Little talked about an IRS witness who seemed to influence the jury by suggesting they never paid taxes. While some people feel that it was all “hearsay,” the fact is that what she said was entered into the court record. So, it is evidence.

When New York’s top court overturned Harvey Weinstein’s Manhattan-based sex crimes conviction in a surprise move Thursday, questions about Weinstein’s reversal of fortune and what comes next for the disgraced movie mogul started to multiply.
Will there be a new trial in New York? Could Weinstein be released on bail while that question plays out? Is Weinstein’s subsequent conviction in California in jeopardy now too?
A spokesperson for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg quickly signaled Thursday that the office hoped to put Weinstein back in front of a jury.

Harvey Weinstein was already effectively serving a life sentence when he was flown to Los Angeles to face his second trial on rape and sexual assault charges.
That second conviction is now the only thing keeping him in prison, after the New York Court of Appeals overturned his original verdict in a 4-3 ruling on Thursday.
The court’s ruling could now be used to bolster the appeal in California, which, if successful, could set the former Hollywood producer free.
“At the time the jury was deciding the evidence in California, they were working under the assumption and the belief that he had properly been convicted in New York,” said Jennifer Bonjean, the attorney who is handling Weinstein’s California appeal. “Now we know that’s not true.”
The Los Angeles jury was informed of Weinstein’s earlier conviction during the trial, and it also came up during jury selection.
