The Boys Season 4 reviews are coming out and the critics have a good opinion of the new season. However, the Rotten Tomatoes score might be a bummer for the penultimate season. The series saw its lowest Critics Score for a season yet with an 81% score as of writing. It is particularly concerning after the show’s third season scored the highest Tomatometer score in the series.

Fans have already started debating on what the otherwise good rating means for the new season. Some fans argue that the superhero show has overstayed its welcome. Interestingly, Eric Kripke announced that the fifth season would be the show’s final season.

In the current political climate — which some say is stranger than fiction — you have under 150 days before votes will be cast in the 2024 Election, where the onslaught of a media blitz can tantalize your cerebral cortex. But if you can’t wait that long, June 13 is promising to entangle you with just as much of a media overload of sexcapades, political intrigue, debauchery, violence, espionage, blood, gore and well, just outright weird kink stuff, as The Boys — Amazon Prime’s satirical series about a group of vigilantes chasing after rogue superheroes — kicks off its fourth season.
In the latest trailer for season four, a group of American citizens in the streets are seemingly divided into two social and political factions, and on the verge of violence — with the tune of the funky classic from Curtis Mayfield, “(Don’t Worry) If There’s a Hell Below, We’re All Going to Go,...

There are many factors that contributed to The Boys' runaway success on Prime Video. When the show was released, the comic books it was based on already had a fan base, and many people who had never heard of them were drawn to the concept of superhero genre satire.
Solid writing, brilliant acting, and quality production were the icing on the cake. And even though the show has been exploring the same battle of Billy Butcher vs. Homelander for 3 seasons now, fans are just as excited to see the same thing continue in an upcoming season 4. Especially since there might be a shift in the power dynamics.
Will Homelander Kill Billy Butcher?

The Boys remains one of Prime Video’s biggest shows, so we’re sad to report that it’s ending.
Series creator Eric Kripke announced on X on Tuesday morning that The Boys Season 5 will conclude the superhero drama.
“The Boys Season 4 Premiere Week is a good time to announce: Season 5 will be the Final Season!” he shared on the social media platform.
“Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final Ok from Vought,” he added.
“Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax. Watch Season 4 in Two Days, cause the end has begun!”
Kripke is well-known for having arcs mapped out for several years at the beginning of a show’s run.
The Boys is a megahit
Supernatural, one of his other big hits, was supposed to end after Season 5, but it went on for another decade because it was a huge success.

The Boys are finally back and they are even more wild and bloody with a touch of animal mayhem. The much-awaited Season 4 of the popular Prime Video superhero series The Boys will be released the day after tomorrow on the streaming service but before that, we are here to review the upcoming season, and after watching all the episodes I can confidently say that this might be the best season of The Boys yet.
Season 4 begins with The Boys struggling to figure out the Victoria Newman problem as she is about to become the Vice President of America and with Butcher only having months to live, he is trying to get Ryan back from Homelander. M.M. is now in charge of The Boys and they have a big problem ahead of them as the public is divided between Homelander supporters and Starlight supporters. Into this chaos,...

Plot: The world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son as well as his job as The Boys’ leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.
Review: While most viewers have loved The Boys since it debuted, I was lukewarm on the first season. With improvements in the second and third years, I have become a big fan of the Prime Video series and its bleakly hilarious take on the superhero genre with each successive season. The Boys are back in town for a fourth season of Prime Video's ultra-violent comic book series, and the review embargo has now lifted ahead of Thursday's 3-episode premiere.
The majority of critics were able to check out the full 8 episodes, and while the initial verdicts are (mostly) positive, it's looking like season 4 might prove to be the show's most divisive yet.
It sounds like The Boys is still just as wickedly funny, outrageous and shocking as ever, but it may have actually become too dark for some critics, who feel the sociopolitical satire has begun to hit a bit too close to the bone, making for a "depressing" watch.
Season 4 has also been criticized for its repetitiveness, treading over the same ground as previous seasons without pushing the story forward into new territory.
As things stand, The Boys season 4 sits at 71% on Rotten Tomatoes. Have a read through some...

You have to hand it to “The Boys.” Production on Season 4 of the Amazon action satire wrapped over a year ago, with its release delayed by subsequent strikes in the entertainment industry. The premiere still manages to be almost uncannily well-timed, with characters waiting on a verdict from the breathlessly publicized Manhattan trial of a polarizing political figure. Granted, the figure in question is Homelander (Antony Starr), the psychopathic Captain America type who serves as the series’ archvillain, not a certain former — and possibly future — president. But the trial’s subject is a clear allusion to an infamous Trumpism. When Homelander eye-lasered a protester for throwing a plastic bottle at his son, he essentially shot somebody in the middle of 5th Avenue. And in the ever-cynical world of “The Boys,” Homelander loses about as much support for it as his real-life inspiration.

Jensen Ackles – who rose to recognition as Supernatural’s Dean Winchester – joined the star-studded cast of The Boys as Solider Boy, the paragon of an ‘alpha male,’ in season 3. But out of all his friends, the one who was the most thrilled about the news was his on-screen father from the CW fantasy horror, Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

The Boys returns for its long-awaited fourth season later this week, and Prime Video has released a promo featuring new cast member Jeffrey Dean Morgan sharing new details about his mysterious character.
In the humorous teaser, The Walking Dead alum manages to get a few things out before his words begin to be heavily censored.
Is he actually spilling any redacted secrets here? Well, we already know a few things about Morgan's character, but there are certainly some details that have been kept firmly under wraps - and for good reason.
Without giving anything away, let's just say Mr. Kessler doesn't care for The Boys and feels Butcher and the team's methods haven't been yielding adequate results.
Have a look at the new promo below, along with some new stills from the first three episodes and a video featuring The Deep sharing some "wise" words.
Finally, @jdmorgan shared more details about his character at #IGNLive.

The Boys are back in town, and they might be here to stay for a while.
As Season 4 of the Prime Video superhero series soars back to the streamer this month, showrunner Eric Kripke revealed his plans for the future of the series, which is based on the comic book of the same name.
“I am – without hyperbole – literally the worst person in history at predicting how long their show should go,” he said in the latest issue of SFX Magazine after his last show, Supernatural, lasted for 15 seasons.
“No one in the entire history of the entertainment business has been more wrong than me, giving interview after interview on how I thought Supernatural should end after five years,” added Kripke.
He reasoned, “So I would be crazy to speculate on how many seasons any show should go. I’m not going to make that same mistake again. But, yes,...

Prime Video's The Boys adaptation may be known for its extreme gore, dark humor and comic book parodies, but it's never shied away from including sociopolitical satire, and the show has arguably gained more attention for its blistering take-down of America's far right.
Showrunner Eric Kripke has always been very up-front about what - and who - the series is taking aim at, and the writing has proved to be almost prescient with its parallels to current events.
For example, the upcoming fourth season finds Homelander on trial for publicly killing a protestor in the season 3 finale, and the show returns to our screens shortly after former President Donald Trump's numerous convictions.
"It’s happened now almost every season, and we write them sometimes close to two years before they air and again we’ll find that the news is accurately reflecting whatever we’re talking about," Kripke tells THR.

The Boys returns to our screens next week, and Prime Video (via Discussing Film) has shared the first clip from the season 4 premiere.
Here, we see Billy Butcher attempt to get Ryan to leave with him during Victoria Neuman's campaign speech. The last time these two spoke, Butcher did what he felt was best for Ryan by telling him that he never wanted him, but this approach backfired by bringing the easily-manipulated young Supe closer to his father.
Butcher almost manages to convince the lad that going with him would be what his "mum would want," before Homelander arrives on the scene.

The Boys returns for its fourth season on next week, and Prime Video has now released another character poster, this time spotlighting the two latest members of the "superhero" group known as The Seven.
As you might expect, those new recruits turn out to be every bit as unhinged/amoral as pretty much every other Supe that's been part of the team, but one, in particular, might be the most dangerous of all: The smartest person in the world, Sister Sage (Susan Heyward).
"It's such a funny power," showrunner Eric Kripke said of the scheming Supe in a recent interview with EW. "A lot of superhero worlds have that character. Sharing the spotlight with Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) is the mystery character of Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who is expected to play a key role in this season’s events. In an interview, he said, “I can tell you that he shares much of Butcher's concern and hatred of superheroes… What would happen if he started working with someone who wants to push him forward?”

The comic book The Boys was created through the pioneering efforts of authors Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson who turned a hugely popular genre on its head with their bold satirical take on superheroes. While these characters were viewed as Gods and revered for their impeccable abilities and qualities that they used for good, The Boys dealt with equally powerful heroes who abuse these powers.

The 2019 show developed by Eric Kripke for Amazon Prime became an instant hit, and had fans completely invested in these deliciously diabolical characters. During a Twitter Q&a back in 2020, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke stated that his rough idea for the show's entire run included “five seasons total.” But the series was recently renewed for a fifth season, and the word "final" was nowhere to be seen in Prime Video's press release!
Now, Kripke has amended his original prediction.
“I have learned since then to not try to call the seasons as the person who, and this is without hyperbole, is literally the most wrong in entertainment history of how many seasons their show should go,” he tells Inverse. “Someone pointed that out to me and I was like, ‘You're right. That's ridiculous. I need to keep my mouth shut.’ And so I will.”
Kripke may not know when The Boys is going to end, but he does know how the story is going to conclude.

Does this indicate that Kessler will be joining the team? Well, we don't want to give anything away, so let's just say that his placement alongside Butcher on the poster is no accident.
"He is an old colleague of Butcher's," showrunner Kripke teased in a recent interview. "I can tell you that he shares a lot of Butcher's concern and hatred of superheroes. It really came from the notion of everyone else in The Boys is always trying to pull Butcher back. So what would happen if he started working with someone who wants to push him forward?"

For those lucky enough to have experienced this, think back to how you first managed to get your dream job. The painstaking process of gathering enough relevant experience over the years, looking for open positions, and sending out résumés to whomever will take them -- not to mention all the rejections along the way -- can turn even the best and most optimistic of us into cynical grumps. Actors, for all the glitz and glamor we see from the outside looking in, oftentimes have to suffer through similar moments of heartbreak over and over again. Not all actors, however, are Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Antony Starr has made a major impact as the psychotic Supe known as Homelander over three seasons of Prime Video's The Boys adaptation, but is there a chance he might suit-up as a more conventional superhero at some point?
A recent rumor claimed that the title role in the planned Max Booster Gold series has already been cast, and when fans noticed that Starr and DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn had started following each other on Instagram, speculation mounted that the Aussie actor may have been cast as Michael Jon Carter.
Why that particular character and not another Dcu role? Well, Booster is blonde, and Starr... plays a blonde guy on The Boys.
At any rate, it doesn't sound like the social media sleuths have landed on something here - not that Starr would confirm if they had!
"Me and James just play golf," Starr told ComicBook.com when asked about the rumors.

The third season of Eric Kripke’s The Boys has been as popular as the first two, with fans loving the appearance of new faces to the main cast of the show such as Jensen Ackles in the role of Soldier Boy. With the 4th season right around the corner, the enthusiasm for the show continues to grow. Interestingly, during the 3 seasons, a strange phenomenon has been noticed, that is how some fans are deeply obsessed with Antony Starr’s Homelander.

An essential element of the fanbase’s love for the antagonist is his narcissistic and manipulative behavior, and it has grown to the point where they are obsessed with the character. This notion has captured Starr’s attention and responded to the fans who are imitating the Supe in real life.

Giancarlo Esposito recently confirmed that he had joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe... but not as the character he's been campaigning to play over the past few months, Charles Xavier.
During Ccxp back in May (via Collider), Esposito revealed that he will be appearing in a Marvel Studios project, but declined to reveal any more details. The actor did say that we'd find out "sooner rather than later," and the role is "better than you can imagine."
There was some speculation that Esposito might show up in the cameo-filled Deadpool and Wolverine, but according to Mttsh, he will be making his MCU debut in an upcoming Disney+ series.
Does this narrow down the character possibilities? Not really, since we have Agatha All Along, Ironheart, Daredevil: Born Again, and the recently announced Vision series all on the horizon, as well as more Marvel Spotlight presentations such as Wonder Man.

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has brought several Supernatural stars over to his Prime Video superhero drama over the last few years, and now he’s got his eye on Jared Padalecki.
Given the recent cancellation of Walker, the time may finally be right for Jared Padalecki to join The Boys, even if it’s just for a single episode. “He’s been busy the last few years, so schedules haven’t worked out,” Kripke told Variety. “But now, unfortunately, [Walker] got cancelled — but the good thing is he’s free, and I feel like I have to complete my game of Supernatural Pokémon and I have my one big one — very big one — left to catch.“

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the latest member of the "Supernatural" cast to join showrunner Eric Kripke's most recent creation: the filthy, irreverent superhero satire series "The Boys." Morgan played John Winchester, father of the demon-hunting Winchester brothers (Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki) in "Supernatural," and in "The Boys" season 4 he'll be introduced as CIA analyst Joe Kessler. There's a possibility he could even be reunited with his on-screen son, since Ackles also joined the world of "The Boys" last season as a very special boy: Soldier Boy.
This was Ackles' first time suiting up on camera as a superhero, which is actually pretty surprising given that his 15-season tenure on "Supernatural" saw him in a variety of disguises. Soldier Boy is currently taking a cryogenic nap, but after season 3 ended, Kripke told Entertainment Weekly, "I can't imagine the series ending without Soldier Boy making another appearance." We're now just three weeks away from the season 4 premiere of The Boys, and Prime Video has shared a new still spotlighting the reshuffled members of the "superhero" team known as The Seven.
The updated roster (it's a running joke that there's never actually seven of them) consists of original members Homelander, The Deep, A-Train, and Black Noir (with a different character under the mask), along with two new recruits.
As you might expect, these ladies turn out to be every bit as unhinged/amoral as pretty much every other Supe that's been part of the team, but one, in particular, might be the most dangerous of all: The smartest person in the world, Sister Sage (Susan Heyward).
"It's such a funny power," showrunner Eric Kripke says of the scheming Supe in a recent interview with EW. "A lot of superhero worlds have that character. Whereas most of them are usually really reedy white dudes,...

Eric Kripke is gonna catch ’em all. “The Boys” showrunner has slowly but surely been casting the stars of the iconic CW series “Supernatural,” which Kripke created, on his R-rated Amazon Prime Video superhero drama. And he’s got one “very big one” he’s eyeing to bring on in Season 5, even if it’s for “a single episode” — Jared Padalecki, a.k.a. Sam Winchester.
“He’s been busy the last few years, so schedules haven’t worked out,” Kripke told Variety in an interview Thursday, referring to Padalecki’s starring role on the CW’s “Walker,” which was canceled earlier this week after four seasons. Padalecki starred alongside Jensen Ackles on the CW’s “Supernatural” for 15 seasons, from its debut on what was then the WB in 2005 through its series finale in 2020.
“But now, unfortunately, [‘Walker’] got canceled — but the good thing is he’s free,” Kripke said.

The Boys returns for its fourth season next month, and if star Jack Quaid (Hughie) is to be believed, fans are in for the most batshit insane batch of episodes yet - which really is saying something when you consider some of the things we've witnessed over the course of the previous three seasons.
During an interview with Collider, Quaid said this latest season is his favourite yet, and while he didn't share any specifics when it comes to what viewers can expect from the finale, it sounds like we might be in store for quite a shocker.

Steven Yeun has done quite well for himself since parting ways with the land of the Walkers. From earning an Oscar nod in 2021 to becoming the first Asian actor to win a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a limited series, the actor has been successful in building an impeccable resume.
But before earning acclaim for his versatility, the actor initially rose to prominence following his portrayal of fan-favorite Glenn in AMC’s The Walking Dead Series. Although in hindsight, leaving the show back in 2016 turned out to be a wise choice for Yeun, the decision wasn’t easy for the actor.

The Boys returns for its fourth season on June 13, and after losing Black Noir (dead) and Queen Maeve (retired) last season, the first episode will focus on Homelander recruiting some new members of The Seven.
As you might expect, those new recruits turn out to be every bit as unhinged/amoral as pretty much every other Supe that's been part of the team, but one, in particular, might be the most dangerous of all: The smartest person in the world, Sister Sage (Susan Heyward).
"It's such a funny power," showrunner Eric Kripke says of the scheming Supe in a new interview with EW. "A lot of superhero worlds have that character. Zoe Saldaña is one of the few Hollywood stars whose reputation undoubtedly precedes her. As such, her work not only stands out as a product of her excellent ethics but also an irrevocable personality that drives her to achieve perfection in every single role she embodies. But such quality of work doesnʼt breed out of compliance and pleasantness.
Zoe Saldaña in Special Ops: Lioness [Credit: Paramount Network]For the Avatar star, it took incredible strength and bravery to pursue work in an industry that makes it their daily mission to promote misogyny. Saldaña has hardly kept quiet in the past about the difficult working environment on Pirates of the Caribbean sets and she isnʼt about to do so now as she makes explosive revelations about the openly vile nature of studio execs.
