The next installment in the Jurassic World franchise continues to build its main cast, with THR reporting today that Mahershala Ali (Marvel’s upcoming Blade) is now in talks.
Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), Rupert Friend (Asteroid City) and Jonathan Bailey (Wicked) are also on board to star.
Gareth Edwards (2014’s Godzilla, The Creator) will be directing the new installment, with original Jurassic Park writer David Koepp returning to write the screenplay.
Jurassic World returns to theaters on July 2, 2025. Stay tuned for more.
The new movie is expected to usher in a brand new Jurassic Era with Jurassic World cast members Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard not expected to return. Don’t expect the original trilogy’s Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill, either. The new Jurassic World, from what we gather, plans to take the franchise in a new direction, with plot details under wraps.

Just Cause movie is back in action as Blue Beetle director Ángel Manuel Soto has been tapped to helm
A movie based on the Just Cause video game franchise has been in the works for years, but it’s gotten back on track with a new director at the helm. Ángel Manuel Soto (Blue Beetle) is set to direct the adaptation for Universal Pictures, with David Leitch and Kelly McCormick producing through their 87North banner.
Just Cause puts you in the shoes of Rico Rodriguez, a secret operative who is deployed to various fictional island nations to help overthrow tyrannical dictators who are backed by The Black Hand, a lethal mercenary group. With a variety of gadgets, such as a grappling hook and wingsuit, Rico zips, races, and shoots his way through various missions, which typically involve over-the-top explosives and creative stunts. It’s a lot of fun.
Created by Avalanche Studios, the first Just Cause game was released in 2006, followed by Just Cause 2 in 2010, Just Cause 3 in 2015, and...

A long-awaited video game adaptation now has new life. Universal Pictures has officially boarded the "Just Cause" movie, and the studio has some impressive talent behind the camera to make the project a reality. That starts with director Ángel Manuel Soto, best known for directing the DC superhero movie "Blue Beetle." The project has also added "The Fall Guy" director David Leitch and his producing partner (and wife) Kelly McCormick on board as producers with their company, 87North.
Universal has a longstanding relationship with Leitch, as the filmmaker made "Hobbs & Shaw" for the studio before stepping behind the camera for "The Fall Guy." He also very nearly directed the new "Jurassic World" film before Gareth Edwards took over. 87North has a first-look deal with the studio, so this partnership makes sense. Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson are also on board as producers. As for Soto,...

Donna Langley has done it all. She slowly worked her way up the ranks at Universal Studios and now runs the whole entertainment side of NBCUniversal — motion pictures, Focus Features, television, and Peacock.
She’s one of the Hollywood executives who knows talent and how to make good, commercial movies. She’s kept the “Fast and the Furious” franchise going strong and landed Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” which scored almost $1 billion for the studio, along with seven Oscar wins, including Best Picture.
In short, she knows what she’s doing and, at a wide-ranging Kering Women in Motion chat at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this week, where she was on hand to accept her award as the 2024 Women In Motion Award honoree, Variety’s co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh tried to pry some of her genius out of her to share.

After a short run in theaters, The Fall Guy is now available to purchase on Digital HD with a never-before-seen Extended Cut that features an addiitonal 20 minutes of action-packed new footage from the David Leitch-directed actioner, which stars 3x Academy Award-nominee Ryan Gosling (The Nice Guys; Blade Runner 2049; La La Land) and Academy Award-nominee Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow; The Devil Wears Prada; The Adjustment Bureau) in the lead roles.
The Fall Guy was one of the best received movies of the year, boasting an 82% Certified Fresh rating and an 87% Audience Score on review aggregator RottenTomatoes. However, the warm word of mouth didn't exactly translate to box office success as, to date, it has only grossed over $127.4 million worldwide on its estimated $150 million production budget, likely resulting in Universal fast tracking the film's digital launch.

We've known for some time that Brad Pitt was eyed to play Cable in Deadpool 2. Concept art has shown the actor transformed into the time-travelling son of Cyclops and Jean Grey, but the role ultimately went to Avengers: Endgame star Josh Brolin.
While Pitt's busy schedule was to blame for that, he still found the time to make a fun blink-and-you'd-miss-it cameo as X-Force member, The Vanisher.
Talking to Josh Horowitz about his new movie The Fall Guy, Deadpool 2 director David Leitch reflected on trying to cast Pitt as Nathan Summers and explained how that ultimately led to him dying by electrocution on screen (when the invisible mutant parachuted into power lines).
"Ryan [Reynolds] and I went to pitch Brad," Leitch says in the video below. "We had concept art, and it's sort of how the Vanisher cameo came to life. Because I think he entertained it...

It took playing a stunt actor for Oscar-nominated star Ryan Gosling to realize his own phobias mid-stunt scene.
While leading “The Fall Guy” as stunt actor Colt, Gosling revealed to WSJ Magazine that he can now understand the physical toll of performing action sequences.
“You can’t breathe or the wind is knocked out of you, or you’re seeing stars or you’re kind of blacking out,” Gosling said. There was even one moment while filming his drop from a ledge into an atrium where Gosling almost couldn’t move.
“My body turns to stone,” he recalled of the moment on set. “I think it’s happened when I had kids — really, you start to be way more conscious of everything you do and everything you’ve ever done and everything you will do if you get a chance to do it.”

From co-directing the pulse-pounding John Wick and seamlessly transitioning to headlining major projects like Deadpool 2, David Leitch’s trajectory in the film is nothing short of remarkable. Playing Brad Pitt’s stunt double in a number of movies, including Fight Club, Leitch began his career in Hollywood as a stunt and fight coordinator.
Needless to say, his enlightening journey with his producer wife, Kelly McCormick, is just as enchanting as the films they make. Not so recently, when the dynamic duo spilled the beans about the casting experience of Deadpool 2, including the role that Brad Pitt almost graced, we got a rare glimpse into the ‘what-ifs’.

In a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Leitch and McCormick admitted the fact that Pitt nearly played the role of Cable in Deadpool 2.

Not many may have expected this, but now it’s all official. Ryan Gosling’s brand new action comedy The Fall Guy has dethroned Zendaya’s heavily marketed sports drama Challengers with the former grossing almost $28 million in the domestic box office and $64 million worldwide during the opening weekend.
David Leitch’s homage to his first ever work as a stunt man was initially quite a questionable competitor, but now the movie’s incredibly good performance in theaters proves that we were wrong all along.
Starring Barbie’s Ryan Gosling and Oppenheimer’s Emily Blunt, The Fall Guy follows Colt Seavers whose entire career is jeopardized after an accident which forces him to leave his job and girlfriend Jody, a camerawoman then.
Some time later Colt suddenly finds himself on the set of his ex-girlfriend's directorial debut that may now be totally ruined after the leading actor vanished for no reason.

Ryan Gosling’s recently released film, The Fall Guy, has put Taylor Swift’s music in the 2024 movie and people are confused. With the film based on stuntmen and women who risk their lives every day for 2 minutes of action on-screen, a Taylor Swift song seems out of the blue.
But the music supervisor and producer Kelly McCormick (who’s a Swiftie) talked about the song’s importance in the film and how it plays out. Having Gosling as the sacrificial stuntman in the film who loses all, a Swift song from her album Red seems perfect.

How Ryan Gosling Cried To Taylor Swift’s Song In The Fall Guy!
Being a story about stuntmen and women, the action sequences are obviously terrific. The promotion of the film had real stuntmen breaking through a glass door while Ryan Gosling walked before them.

Action romance is a tricky genre to master — it requires the right balance of heart and spectacle. But when done well, à la “True Lies” or “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” it will live on forever in the rewatch rotation.
Stunt coordinator-turned-director David Leitch has launched cars straight into the air and staged fight scenes that have had theaters erupting in thunderous cheers. His latest challenge, however, will be making the audience’s heart melt with “The Fall Guy,” in theaters now. Smartly, he cast Ryan Gosling, the living embodiment of a junior high schooler’s diary entry, to play the hero.
Adapted from the 1980s series, the Universal film follows down-at-his-heels action choreographer Colt Seavers (Gosling), who must unravel a treacherous mystery while on the set of the next big blockbuster. The movie happens to be directed by his ex-girlfriend, played by Emily Blunt.

Ryan Gosling’s The Fall Guy promised extreme action and even intense drama, and more than the fight sequences, the soundtracks of the movie were also carefully curated. A lot of discussion and deliberation went on inside the room to pick the most appropriate songs for every scene.

There’s a variety of soundtracks used in The Fall Guy. From the heart-wrenching Taylor Swift break-up song ‘All Too Well’ to a karaoke version of Christina Aguilera’s ‘Genie in a Bottle’, fans would not be able to guess what track comes next.

The Fall Guy also featured some classic hits like the 1979 Kiss song ‘I Was Made For Lovin’ You’, but it almost did not make the cut as everyone seemed to hate it. Director David Leitch was the one who proposed the idea.

The Fall Guy is kicking off summer movie season with a No. 1 debut at the box office this weekend, but it’s coming in below initial tracking. After earning $10.4 million on Friday, the feature is now projected to open to $28 million for the weekend, down from earlier tracking that had it in the $30-$35 million range.
The film earned an A- CinemaScore from audiences, so it’s possible word of mouth could help the movie make up ground in the coming weeks. The Fall Guy is said to have a net budget of $130 million when accounting for incentives for shooting in Australia. Overseas, it is projected to take in another $25.8 million over the weekend, which would bring its global haul to $65.4 million. (It already opened in some markets last week.)

Spoiler Alert: This story discusses plot elements from “The Fall Guy,” now playing in theaters.
Long before Taylor Swift embarked on the Eras Tour, director David Leitch and producer Kelly McCormick had the idea to use “All Too Well” as a key moment in “The Fall Guy.”
McCormick, a self-professed Swiftie, and Leitch were trying to find a fresh and contemporary song to fit into a particular scene.
In the film, Ryan Gosling plays Colt Seavers, one of Hollywood’s top stuntmen. After experiencing an on-set accident, he falls off the grid for 18 months, ghosting aspiring director Jody (Emily Blunt), someone he also happens to be dating. The two awkwardly reunite on the set of her directorial debut, and when they wrap their first day, Colt retreats to his pickup truck reflecting on happier times with Jody.
McCormick thought a Swift song would be perfect for that scene, and even Gosling agreed.

“I knew daredevils — and I ain’t got nothing against ‘em — it’s just they’re all dead.”
So says the titular character of “The Stunt Man” to his trainer the first time his desire for mortality is put into question. The theme of death is a constant one in this 1980 film. So says the titular character of “The Stunt Man” to his trainer the first time his desire for mortality is put into question. The theme of death is a constant one in this 1980 film. Exclusive: As they open The Fall Guy, a TV series-turned-feature, director David Leitch and his 87North producing partner Kelly McCormick are eyeing a beloved graphic novel for a TV series.
Fifth Season has acquired Button Man, an adaptation of the graphic novel by John Wagner, who co-created Judge Dredd and created A History of Violence, latter of which was turned into a terrific action film by David Cronenberg. The graphic novel was illustrated by Arthur Ranson.
Deals are making, but the plan is for Leitch to direct, and he and McCormick will be executive producers alongside Alex Jackson, Roger Kass, Dan Seligmann, and Wagner and Ranson.
While The Fall Guy plays as comedy, Button Man shapes up closer in tone to John Wick, the first installment of which Leitch co-directed with Chad Stahelski.

In “The Fall Guy,” Ryan Gosling plays Colt Seavers, the stunt double for Hollywood action star Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). Seavers, like “The Fall Guy” director David Leitch and stunt designer Chris O’Hara, got his professional start as a stunt performer before 1999, when “The Matrix” served as a turning point for the profession.
“When my generation came in, ‘The Matrix’ was a big influential time in my career as a stunt performer,” said Leitch on the IndieWire Toolkit podcast. The director worked as a stunt performer on Lana and Lilly Wachowski’s 1999 groundbreaking film. “I learned [and] became heavily exposed to wire work.”
Not only did “The Matrix” successfully integrate wire work, which had become a staple in 1980s and ’90s Hong Kong action films when they hired legendary Chinese fight choreographer Yuen Woo-ping, but the film broke ground in combining practical stunts with visual effects.

The Fall Guy Box Office (North America): Projections Ahead Of Its Release( Photo Credit – YouTube )
After ruling the theatres in 2023 with their individual movies, Barbie and Oppenheimer, Ryan Gosling, and Emily Blunt have teamed up for an action comedy this summer. The Fall Guy by director David Leitch is all set to hit the theatres this Friday, and all eyes are on its box office numbers. Keep scrolling for more deets.
Recently, the film’s producer, Kelly McCormick, opened up about Ryan and Emily’s chemistry in the movie and their characters’ relationship. According to her, it is messy and uncomfortable. The film has already received an impressive 87% score on the Tomatometer on the Rotten Tomatoes website. It is based on the 1980s TV series of the same name about stunt performers. For the unversed, its director was a stunt performer before becoming a filmmaker. He was a stunt double for Brad Pitt.

Producer Kelly McCormick isn’t prone to counting chickens before they hatch, especially when they come in the form of $125 million blockbusters built around the long-gestating resurrection of some classic TV IP. But, given the critical affection already poured on her latest, “The Fall Guy,” and the apparent readiness of the moviegoing public to see a tentpole that truly has it all (plus stunts so massive they are already literal world record-breakers), it might be time for McCormick to start thinking “franchise potential” right now.
As co-founder of the production and action design company 87North — along with her husband, “The Fall Guy” director David Leitch — McCormick is a major player in the action space. Man, does she have fun with it. She’s produced everything from “Bullet Train” and “Atomic Blonde” to “Nobody,” along with executive producing “Deadpool 2” and “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.”

The Fall Guy, which tells the story of Ryan Gosling’s down-and-out stuntman, fully embraced the action at its Los Angeles premiere on Tuesday, with stuntmen fighting, falling and riding motorcycles all over the red carpet.
Held at the Dolby Theatre, the premiere transformed Hollywood Boulevard into its own movie set, as two stuntmen did wheelies down the press line on their motorbikes, followed by another jumping off a multi-story platform onto the carpet entrance. Then, Gosling stood between two of his stunt doubles from the film — all dressed in matching suits — as the performers were ripped through the step-and-repeat. Later, three stuntmen broke though glass to enter the carpet and fight each other in front of the crowd; and right before the screening, another jumped from the balcony of the Dolby down onto the stage to join the cast.

Ryan Gosling stars in The Fall Guy and during the L.A. premiere of the David Leitch-directed film called the movie “love letter to the stunt community.”
“They are the hardest working people in show business,” Gosling said before the screening. “This movie is just a giant campaign to get stunts an Oscar.”
He continued, “We are the face of these films, but the crews really make the movies, and this is a love letter to them.”

The Fall Guy is a movie that celebrates and spotlights the importance of stunt performers, dressed up in an entertaining action thriller that has a real commitment to giving audiences a good time. Helped along, of course, by Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. But they aren’t the only ones making this film what it is, as we had the pleasure in speaking to the supporting star Winston Duke, as well as director & producer team (and husband and wife); David Leitch and Kelly McCormick.
We speak about the roles of stunt performers, and whether they believe there could be a chance of a stunt Oscar in the foreseeable future. We speak about Spielberg seeing (and liking) the movie, while with Duke, who we could’ve spoken to for hours, we get deep into the differences between Schwarzenegger, and Stallone. Enjoy both interviews in their entirety below.

Ostensibly a big-screen reboot of the 1980s television series of the same name, “The Fall Guy” is actually director and former stunt performer David Leitch’s love letter to both his wife, producer Kelly McCormick, and the undersung art of stunt work — only not always in that order.
Working closely with screenwriter and executive producer Drew Pearce, who previously scripted his “Fast and the Furious” spinoff “Hobbs & Shaw,” Leitch creates a clearinghouse of gobsmacking stunts (some truly record-breaking) while chronicling the tumultuous relationship between veteran stunt man Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) and first-time director Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt). It’s quick-witted (and quick-footed) fun that bridges multiple generations of Hollywood moviemaking, melding together rom-coms and bombastic action into one blockbuster package.
Since making his screenwriting debut on Shane Black’s “Iron Man 3,” Pearce has developed an aptitude for conceiving stories that maintain a singular yet cohesive tonal balance.

The Fall Guy Producer On Ryan Gosling & Emily Blunt’s On-Screen Relationship ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling created box office history with their respective movies last year. Oppenheimer and Barbie not only clashed at the theatres, but both were successful. The Barbenheimer clash [Barbie & Oppenheimer] was one of the most talked about topics on social media last year, and now the actors have paired up for the movie The Fall Guy about stunt performers. Producer Kelly McCormick has recently given an insight into Ryan and Emily’s incredible chemistry on the film’s set.
Emily and Ryan are two of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood, and they rekindled their Barbenheimer banter on the 96th Academy Awards stage last month. Although Blunt did not take home the golden statuette, her team ruled the night with seven wins, including Best Picture. Meanwhile, Ryan’s Barbie won the box office war last year.

On Saturday, WeAreMovieGeeks.com got a sneak peek at the Fall Guy Stuntacular at Universal Studios Hollywood. Based on the upcoming reboot of the 80’s classic TV series, The Fall Guy Stuntacular is a limited running show at the popular movie theme park. Presented just before the Water World stunt show at Universal, this new show features many of the big stunts from the movie. And as if that wasn’t enough, Ryan Gosling, star of the new film was on hand to treat the invited audience to the first look at the stunts and the stunt men and women who make it all possible. Gosling called the film, “a love letter to the stunt community” that has been overshadowed for years. Laughs were also abound, as Gosling doubled down on his likeability and comic chops, joking with the crowd and director of the film David Leitch who was also in attendance.

Behind the scenes, director David Leitch and producer Kelly McCormick have been instrumental in the movement for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts to recognize stunts. The director-producer husband-wife team hasn’t been shy in using their new film, “The Fall Guy,” a love letter to stunt professionals, to advance the cause. And it’s a cause that is increasingly looking like it will become a reality; a significant victory came last spring with the creation of the new Production and Technology Academy branch, which includes stunt professionals and therefore supplies the necessary pathway to a Best Stunt Design category at the Oscars.

In a scene early in The Fall Guy, a nameless crewmember buckles Ryan Gosling’s seat belt as his character is about to attempt a cannon roll, a classic car stunt, on the set of a fictional science fiction movie called Metal Storm. Gosling plays Hollywood stuntman Colt Seavers, who is reluctantly returning to the film business after an injury, but in many ways the real star of the scene is the background actor buckling him in, Logan Holladay. Though his screen time lasts only a few moments, Holladay was the real-life stunt driver for Gosling — the one who actually steered a Jeep Grand Cherokee down a Sydney beach and rolled it eight and a half times on the sand, breaking the Guinness world record of seven rolls set by Adam Kirley, the driver of James Bond’s Aston Martin in 2006’s Casino Royale.

[Editor’s note: The following interview contains minor spoilers for “The Fall Guy.”]
David Leitch’s “The Fall Guy” has it all. Drama, action, romance, Taylor Swift. As the film’s Super Bowl trailer delighted in telling potential audience members, the upcoming Ryan Gosling- and Emily Blunt-starring feature is packed with a little something for everyone. And, yes, that includes Gosling crying to Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well” during one of the film’s funniest (and most emotional) sequences, one that’s on full display in that second trailer.
But it wasn’t always going to be Swift’s song that made Gosling’s character cry. During a recent interview with producer Kelly McCormick (who is also Leitch’s wife), she revealed to IndieWire there was another choice on the table.
“It wasn’t actually [always going to be a Swift song], but it wasn’t going to be the song that we were playing [during shooting], because it was not right for their romance,” McCormick told IndieWire.

If I were to describe Emily Blunt’s red carpet style, I would say it’s sophisticated, polished, and feminine. She often leans toward the classics but does not hesitate to experiment with contemporary styles.
Such is the case of her recent red carpet appearance. On Friday, Blunt wore a bespoke deep royal blue Jenny Packham jumpsuit to the Berlin premiere of her latest film, The Fall Guy, at Uci Luxe Mercedes Platz.
Her co-star Ryan Gosling, director David Leitch, and producer Kelly McCormick joined her on the red carpet, but Blunt stood out in her blue and gold outfit.
